I guess you don't get this often on FRF but here's my side of the story!
I forgot to mention it to John but this trip was the celebration of our 5 year anniversary! Not bad for two ol' vets who were long distance for 4 of those years + deployments!
Probably like you, I've always been amazed by the spots John is getting himself lost at. Thought if I was able to get with him he'd point me in the right direction. Luckily the stars aligned and with some comp'd nights I was able to convince my girlfriend to let me drive the Raptor down to Vegas from SF instead of flying. Lo and behold, John is in town and available to show us around! Score!
Day 1 we took a shelf road above the Hoover dam, challenging and tricky! But what a view and a reward at the end!
Day 2 we met up with John who led us up, down, and around Lake Mead, an absolute gem and somewhere you could explore forever! We went through everything from narrow passes, unique rocks, beautiful ridgelines, and some amazing views.
The absolute generosity and knowledge John has was above and beyond what I could've asked for! The sights were amazing and John really knows how to pick a trail! We couldn't stop grinning and snapping every photo we could. John's furry copilots made the trip even funner and we had a blast! Wish we had more time to spend but we will definitely be heading back this way again. Thank you again John, for not only YOUR service but for showing us a little slice of heaven!
Long story short people need to keep themselves locked in casinos on the strip doing coke so John and I have more room out in the trails, thank you very much!!!!
