Yes, and so did all auto manufacturers, and so did all the Wall Street analysts and so did literally everyone, except for a few who know exactly what's going on, myself included...I've said it will be years before the chip and parts supply issues are resolved.
Result of offshoring the last 50 to 80 years and ignoring things like pandemics!
Pure stupidity and GREED!

It's only minimally Ford's fault, no more than everyone's fault!
Ford seems to be especially inept in so many ways. How poorly they managed the allocations of not only the Raptor and Bronco, but even other vehicles. BMW managed to take steps to allow them to be in a position to manage the chip issues... they are up 20% in production at their SC plant over pre-covid! https://www.foxbusiness.com/lifestyle/bmw-south-carolina-production-record-2021. Even GM did well posting profits and gains. Yes shortages persist, but it doesn't seem to be nearly as bad for most other manufacturers as it is for Ford. https://www.freep.com/story/money/cars/general-motors/2022/02/01/gm-2021-earnings/9289819002/. While Ford crapped out.... https://www.marketwatch.com/story/f...mes-profit-miss-*****-wall-street-11643995031. Surely, if other manufacturers are managing it far better than Ford it comes down to poor upper-management decisions. I feel for the employees that are going it now be hit by lost shifts dye to their plant output cuts, the dealerships that have nothing to sell, and of course us... depending on delivery of new vehicles... all SOL.

There are so many differences between manufacturers, comparing BMW to Ford is apples to orannges, different parts, different chips, different suppliers.
It all depends on the chips, parts, supppliers they have done business with forever. If BMW had a supplier dedicated to them for years, then of course that's not going to change much during a pandemic.

That said, it all circles back to greed and satisfying investors. You can't make profits by planning and spending for every emergency that can possibly come years in the future.

Musk has his own chips designed by a design center and he happened to have ordered insane numbers of chips years in advance, because he sees numbers much bigger than realy, among other tings. However, he is still affected by other supply chain issues.

When companies start using AI to manage these things, everything will get better for them, in the beginning, and then once everyone is using AI, it will become more skewed again.

I have waited 5 years to buy a Raptor, my first domestic vehicle in 20 years and my Truck has been scheduled for production since December for the week of February 7. It has slipped weekly since the last week in January until now with a production date of the week of February 21. My dealer told me today that the Rep was in yesterday and told them that there is a shortage of the spray in bedliner material and that was the reason for the delay. I deleted that from my build, but I find it bazaar that the rep did not confirm the Blue Cruise delete on the Raptor nor the plant shutdown information to the dealer.
My daughter ordered an X3 on January 15th and it is scheduled to be delivered to the dealer the end of this month.
I’m just frustrated by the lack of information to the dealers so they can keep the customers informed, and agree that the problems at Ford are driven by the incompetent management at the top.

I had a build day of Tuesday February 22. Just received an email 11:30pm last night that it was moved to February 28. So a one week pause at this point.

its terrible news for the workers at those plants, and that Ford's mismanagement is costing people their livelihoods. For those that are waiting for their new 22's it sucks i know, but remember there are worse things that could be happening to you other than not taking delivery of an awesome new truck. First world problems!
