^^^But of course you understand that the science behind 5/8-wave antennas is has been firmly established for about a 100 years.

And it's a really handy thing for vehicular radio reception, too. If it weren't for that peculiar 5/8-wave phenomenon, we'd be using full wavelength antennas. For FM radio reception, that would require antennas between 9.0 feet and 10.5 feet! Add that antenna length to the 4+ foot height of the antenna mount on a Raptor, and we'd all need garages with 15-foot high door openings!

yes, as long as you factor in the terrain. thats why your shorty antenna works without any noticeable difference, whereas someone in a different location will notice the difference. in general a 5/8 wave will be better, but its not 100% always
