My hood decal is very faded. Looks like crap. Any tips? Is it toast? Should I replace it or get rid of it?

How hard is it to put on a new one, anyone done this? $303 for a replacement from Roush but I’ve never done one.

Thanks!

i cant tell if thats faded or mold. Have you tried cleaning it/putting some product like trim restorer or armor all (doesnt have to be same brand just one of those things)?

Yeah, I’ve tried everything I can find. I have used vinyl cleaner, vinyl polish, even tried with a light palm polisher, everything I’ve been able to find. I found this great stuff from Chemical guys (TVD_107_16 VRP) that makes it all look new but it does wash off in too short of a time.

Ooh that's not good. Might not be something you can do yourself if you want it to last forever.

If you do a wet install, it will be tricky but doable. IMO that decal looks like shit (even if it were pristine) but that is just my $.02

I figured if I’m going to remove it or replace it, I might as well do all I can to it.

I tested a couple spots with:
Alcohol, a lot of black came off, but all it really did was take any remaining shine off of it.
Vinegar, did nothing so not mold.
Plastic/Vinyl polish did nothing at all.
Polishing compound made it look like shined shit.

Honestly have no idea what this truck went through before I got it, but it definitely sat outside in direct sun a lot and one side decal as well is visibly very faded.

I took a super close magnifying pic and the decal looks pitted.

What would you do? I’m not set on anything. I like some stuff about this decal and nice that it’s Roush, I guess, but what would you do if it were yours?

I personally love the OEM hood stripes - so much I bought them after the fact and installed them myself. They make the front end look super mean IMO, that is what I would do as I think the Roush one is goofy AF.

Ok, I ordered the regular ones from Rocky Mountain. I kind of agree that it doesn’t look as good as it should and that’s why I asked,..So much less money too, so huge bonus!
