Coming from nothing but Germans cars over the last 10 years, BMW and Mercedes treat customers and their property so much better than what I’ve experienced so far buying American. (Around my area anyway, I’ll try not to generalize).

Thanks

So my brother has worked as a service writer for a Ford dealer and a BMW/Mini/VW dealer.

Typical Ford customer interaction- "That'll cost $600 to repair." "WHAT? That's way too much, I figured a couple hundred at the most" "Sorry but that's a cheapest we can do it for" "That's crazy, I'll take it to my mechanic, he'll do it for half that."

Typical BWM customer interaction- "That'll cost $600 to repair." "That's it?"

or much more typically- "That'll cost $2300 to repair." "WHAT? Why so much?" "Well the German parts are quite expensive as you know." "Yea, they are" "But once we get it back up and going it's such a nice car it's really worth it. "Yea, it is so nice. OK, when will it be done?"

The point is- it's easy for German car dealers to "be nice" when they are bending you over like they do. People chump up huge money for repairs, so they have no problem spending 5 minutes to listen to your whine, since it might lead to another couple grand in their pocket.

I understand this first hand I’ll admit, from what I’ve spent on headers, fuel systems, turbos, superchargers, tunes Etc in the German world trying to go fast I could have built an entire race ready motor in most American cars and made more power.

Looking at performance parts for American cars now I do find my self saying “that’s all that cost”, due to German prices becoming my norm, sad, but a good thing for me now.

But warranty is warranty, no money out of my pocket either way, I was just referring to over all customer service I guess American dealers vs Germans in my experience.

Like many other gear heads, when I’m out of warranty I purchase parts my self MUCH cheaper online and do most work my self. Save a ton of money in expense of your own time is all.

Yeah I'd concur... mine don't sound like that..
Honestly sounds like possible transmission front pump. But hard to tell from my house

I have to quote you again, you called it.

Got a update call and they will be replacing the Front pump as well as the front pump module, just waiting on the pump to come in the mail.

Update.....

They got the new transmission pump and module put on my truck...... the noise is still there, back to the engineers they go. Great start to my weekend.

Being stuck in a Ford Escape indefinitely sucks, dosent help that this ones interior was smoked in previously and smells terrible.

Update...

The engineers told them To change the “transmission pump gears”, kinda lost on this one because the previously replaced the entire pump apparently.

I asked why they are beating around the bush instead of just replacing the entire transmission. “We want to but can’t because the engineers said we couldn’t”.

Ended up having to rent a car to do some traveling, the rental place had a 2018 Ford Expedition with 21 miles on it taking the plastic off, what do I hear?!?! The same exact whine noise my truck makes. Sounds to me like these 10 speed transmissions have a problem some where as a whole.

On a positive note the service guy assigned to me is great he goes out of his way to keep me posted.

Update/Fix:

Transmission Pump gears were changed and the noise has been reduced by I’d say 85-90% I really have to try and hear it with my head under the truck and even still it’s hard to hear.

Per the Ford 10r80 transmission engineering the pump gears will have a slight but unnoticeable whine due to the gear size.

Supposed to go in and talk to a rep about a extended warranty hopefully at a discount or something.

Truck is much quieter and shifts great for now.
