Talked to JDM. They think it has a whipple stage 1 kit and 47lb injectors. They said they'd send me a quote to make it a stage 2 and upgrade the intercooler. Based on discussion I have the GT500 intercooler. It isn't as thick as the one you posted in another thread. I might just replace the cats then. Who knows the condition but it runs great now.

Regarding headers, FYI Stainless Works now offers GESI UHO cats which I believe are the same if not similar to Kooks Green cats. I’m running Stainless Works 1-7/8” headers with Calico Coolblack II ceramic coating. The headers definitely aren’t a requirement, but I have the funds and wanted to avoid cracked stock manifolds or blown out OEM cats which aren’t rampant issues, but have happened to some.

Whipple doesn’t offer a kit to convert the Gen 1/2 Whipple to Gen 4, but you can buy a new head unit and sell your old one. It’s more than swapping internals because the actual internal dimensions are different due to the revised inlet and internal case profiles to match the revised rotor design.

JDM will get you squared away. They’re happy to provide support before and after the sale and happy to look at data logs to confirm your fuel trims looks good or generally address any concerns or questions.

Whipple direct tunes are 50-state legal, but they will only tune for an otherwise stock engine. I think you’re better off starting with JDM if you know you’ll do other supporting mods in the future.

Don’t forget other items such as the driveshaft etc. Other than tire speed rating, the driveshaft rotational speed and balancing is something to think about when your electronic limiter gets bumped to 130mph. Getting to 100 and beyond happens a lot faster than you think with over 500hp and torque at the wheels.

Don't confuse the intercooler with the heat exchanger, there is no way anybody would know what's under the compressor.
Only the records that Whipple have could tell you what's under there.
Also, the first Whipple kits came with 60 lbs. injectors.

Any idea how to identify the size of the injectors? I'm talking to JDM about doing a stage 2 kit and upgrading the heat exchanger. The question is it could be an unknown variable regarding the fuel injectors. They don't want to sell me upgraded injectors if I already have ones sufficient for the stage 2 upgrade.

Other than physically removing and injector physically verifying, the only other option would be to maybe have JDM take a look at your existing tune file to maybe determine what you have if you already have an SCT device. Any injectors usually come with tuning guidelines such as those in the attached image from DeatschWerks. This all assumes you don’t have the installation documentation or can’t get the details from Whipple if you’re running their tune etc. currently.

Like Vash said you're going to have to take one out.

Where are you at with contacting Whipple???

As a side note: remember I mentioned that the first Whipple kits came with 60 lbs.
Whipple later on had to go down in size to the 47 lbs. because that tuner at that time, found it easier to compile a tune for headers.
And at that time switched to SCT format and all of a sudden everybody had tunes. LOL

Then a year later, Whipple has a new tuner and went back up to 60 lbs. with the Stage II

Yup I did see that. So I'll pull an injector just to see what I have because it could be either 47 or 60 based on your comment.

I've contacted whipple. They stated to send them the serial number on the supercharger and they'll see what they can find. They weren't really that helpful to be honest.

Yeah, it depends on who is answering.
Well don't give up on calling,
and get the PCM numbers and ask for the in-house Tuner at Whipple to help you figure out if they did a Tune for it.

Strike out. Whipple and Jdm both checked to see off the vins were in their systems. Neither has record. Jdm did state they don’t usually retain the records of vins for tunes.
