Ditch the engine cover?

Does the insulated cover on the engine replace the insulation on the bottoms of hood that are on some vehicles? What is the purpose of insulation on the bottoms of hoods?

This. It's all about reducing NVH. Look under many modern cars/CUVs and you'll see all kinds of plastics/felts meant to help isolate road noises. Rap is no different

Mine came off day 2 and wont go back on until/unless I trade her in. The engine will warm up plenty quick on it's own, and I don't like to unneccesarily heat soak my equipment. In fact, when I park in the garage at home the hood comes open for just that reason.
