Since we don't have any major Raptor action down at the tristate area in Cincinnati, OH, I decided to pretend my 2025 37PP was a Jeep for a day. Found an amazing group and tour guide with Mattox Backcountry Guided Tours and Jamie Mattox took us to what he called a stock trail by the Daniel Boone Backcountry Byway in KY, somewhere in the lines of the Kentucky Adventure Trail.
The trail selection was pretty mild but exciting enough to be worth the 2hr trip over to the meeting point by Staton, KY. We were a group of about 13 vehicles - all Jeeps in various configs (stock/heavily modified), but me and a Bronco. Overall, the truck didn't break a sweat at all throughout the 5hrs of gravel, dirt, mild mud, rocks, and water crossings. Clearance was never an issue despite some 16-17 degrees climbs.
Now, the ugly part... a lot of people told me I'd get Kentucky pinstripes and they are, indeed, inevitable if you don't have PPF like me. Despite the trails being wide, branches obviously outgrow the terrain and there is no scaping them most of the times. Also, I ended up scratching decently the lower right side of my door on an obstacle climb where I turned in the corner too much and ended up hitting a tree branch - can probably polish it out but my scratch remover product only alleviated the damage here.
All and all, lots of fun, great day, but be ready for some scratches or bring your PPFed truck here.
Here is my full video with ~30min of ASMR (yeah i know) sunroof footage on an old GoPro HERO 5 summarizing the 5hrs
Cheers
