I really want to get a supercab instead of the supercrew and im also looking for a little bit less payment. I found a super low mileage 14 supercab near me (https://www.cargurus.com/Cars/inventorylisting/mySavedListings.action#listing=233287339). Dealer only will give me 45k trade in for my 18 802a with 62k miles and also won't budge on the price of the 14. Any advice. Highest offer I've had so far on my 18 is 49k. Assuming dealers would probably resell it for 52-55k

I said a few years ago gen1's would be worth more than gen2's by 2020, looks like I was right. I say go for it, I miss my gen1 and regret getting the aluminum can weed whacker i've got now..

I'd do it in a heartbeat, and for a lot of very good reasons.

Sell private, dealers suck...you can get almost as much as a dealer will sell your 2018 for....THEN go deal on your 2014.
I sold my 2010 Tacoma 4x4 to help pay for my Raptor...and I'm so glad the dealers screwed me around...otherwise I might be in a new Tacoma instead of my Gen1 Raptor...long story short,my Tacoma was MINT,LOADED and 55K...new one $40K...mine had resale value in the $18-24K range...they made it sound like they were HELPING me with their $14K trade in offer on a new one...Go to another dealer, they really wanted my business and offered me $14,700! I put ad on CL sold it in 2 days to 1st person who looked at it for $22,750....$8K more than dealer....
    Oh,did I mention Dealers SUCK..?

I have had my 2011 since day 1, I could not imagine selling it as it is just broke in at 113,000 mi.

Even the KBB instant offer was 47k for mine so obviously they are low balling me pretty hard. I've never sold a vehicle through a private sale so I would have to figure out how that works

Looks like you're from PA also so just an FYI this is a tax gap state so you only pay taxes on the difference between your trade in value and purchase price of the new vehicle so unless you get like 4 grand+ more its usually not worth the headache in PA.

So basically if I would private sell it around 52k, 3kish would go to taxes so all in all I would walk away with 49k but if i would trade I would only be taxed the difference between the two?
