Hey guys. so truck is clicking on cold start. Shoulds like cam phasers. Got an appointment at Ford in 3 weeks. Have a 2018 45k miles. They said they do all 4 phasers but service advisor wasn’t sure about timing chain. Is that supposed to be done as well. Where can I don’t out what needs to get done done for This. Also are fords new phasers better than the ones I have ? Thank you
When I got mine replaced at 44k it came as a kit from ford and part of a tsb. It came with phasers, timing chain, tensioner, guides and some sprockets I think. Took them about a week to get it done. No ticking and I hope it stays that way.
There is no kit. As far as the timing drive, only the phasers (cam sprockets) need to be replaced. The timing chain, tensioner, guides, and crank sprocket are not part of the TSB and should not be replaced.
I just got my truck back after all of this was done... i can snap a pic of the paperwork but like what was said above it came as a kit and they replaced the entire system... had a few other issues to take care of... about 5 pages of work that had to be done but since then she runs like a sewing machine and actually is now better on fuel economy than before
