You do understand that updated parts means the older part is no longer available and unable to be ordered and that even if they did try and order the old part, they couldn’t and it would reference the new part number in the system right?

The updated engineering part number was implemented in production in 07/18; the updated service part number with the design change was released 10/19.

Agreed - I went through same process, or at least my truck has. Original owner fought rev1 cam phasers for a long while and really never got resolved. I bought my truck a year ago, had phasers replaced in March with rev2 of the part and the truck is solid. I know this repair probably seems scary for some, but I think for many service centers this is really become no big deal and routine.

Finally got my 19 scab confirmed bad phasers, they're ordering the parts for me. My service writer is pushing really hard for me to get it done ASAP. Honestly I'm still not sold on having my engine torn down for a noise that won't cause any actual issues. I've got another 40k miles until the power train warranty is up. Should I bite the bullet or just deal with the rattle for a couple more years?
