Sucks but it's under warranty -- either way and not fun--that I agree.

NO coolant--blame the dealer PDI for not checking that.

These 21 covid build trucks are showing teething issues. Got a bunch of already union guys building these things and when Ford cuts days/weeks of build they don't care even more.

I'm about to pass on my '21 and just order '22 to let these issues shake out.

I couldn’t make up….

So, after searching for weeks and calling numerous dealerships, I found a black 801A without any add ons that i could afford in West Virginia (I am from Dallas).

I flew up to WV Wednesday stayed overnight (because my flight landed at 9pm) and yesterday picked up my brand new Raptor. I have wanted a Raptor forever and after saving up my pennies for years, I finally had my dream truck!! It was christmas and my birthday all wrapped into one.

So I start driving my new truck back to Dallas. 12 hours yesterday and 5 hours today. I am an hour from the house and all hell breaks loose.

I get a coolant warning light and an engine overheating light and the truck reduces power in the middle of the highway. After safely getting to the shoulder, the truck shuts off. Steam coming from engine bay.

So, first i call the WV dealership and ask for the Ford roadside assistance number. After 20 min talking to the dumbest guy ever, he tells me i will need to pay for the tow!!! After a few choice words i hung up and called a local tow truck.

After the tow arrives, we cant get the truck into neutral. When we finally find the release strap under the steering column, we still cant move the truck because the electronic parking break keeps engaging. Finally figured out had to put whole truck in service mode to get on the truck.

Oh, and at this point the truck will no longer start at all.

Finally get to the dealership and they tell me that they have no techs to look at it and no one will likely look at it until next week.

So, here i sit in a rural dealership in nowhere, Texas waiting on my wife to pick me up after dropping $80k on my dream truck that has now become a nightmare.

Hope ya’ll have better experiences with your new 2021 Raptors.
So sorry man - Fellow DFW guy here too. Picking my truck up tomorrow. We have an email chain going, feel free to PM me and maybe we can all meet up under better circumstances.

Not so sure about that. He drove 17 hours until he had issues. Probably leaking slowly or something else going on. You couldn't go 20min without coolant

Man, that REALLY sucks! Hopefully it's a simple repair. When my '20 was new it turned out it had a cracked timing cover. Straightforward repair and great ever since. If I had picked it up from a good distance I would have been in pretty much the same boat as you.

Agreed. Which comes back to others with clamp issues on trans fluid.

I don't NEED my 2021 even at MSRP (my 2020 is tight, no rattles or issues) and these reported issues and short build cycle are making me just order a 2022 from my dealer. I'm going to tell him put in for delivery in April. Trade prices are down on 2020's now, so hell just keep it.

Hope OP gets things resolved.

as much as that sucks all the sensors in these trucks can be a good thing. powering down and going into limp mode most likely means no real damage was done as apposed to an older vehicle that would run until it destroys itself. sounds like a slow leak, hopefully from a 2 cent part. when my truck was new the front diff pinion seal has a slow leak. when you get it home I would give every mechanical part a very thorough look to check for any other issue, that's how I found my diff leak. either way the warranty should have you covered.

My 2020 is also perfect. I beat the hell out of it too. I won't be looking to trade up for a few more years. Not sure what it will be at that point.
