Rick, move the oil cooler and filter before this run!!!!!! :angels25:

No =P That was caused to me blowing the double caution and the fact I had no skid plate. I'm driving slow. No need to prove anything to anyone. I'm bringing my daily driver Raptor, not the prerunner. Only reason I am attending TRR is that I am in CenTex for a week for work & personal the week before. Only requires me to extend my time in Texas for a few days before TRR at which I do have more work that I can do while in Texas.

That and my wife TOLD me to go. She said something along the lines of "you haven't gone and done anything since Terlingua (October), you NEED out of the house!"

Something that would not happen in my house... Lucky Man.

On a some what related question, how are the top tubes welded? I assume all the way around, but how did you get access? I have seen a few places actually cut the cab apart / top off, weld the cage, then weld and fill the cab back together.

RICK R RAPTOR PRE-RUNNER - Gallery

Interior is gutted, holes are cut into the floor where the floor plates are going to go, then it is pieced together like that. To do the top of the cage, the cage itself is sitting a lot lower than the roof line.

Thanks for the info and link. Now that I think about it more intelligently, I suppose you could slide the cage to the side of the frame rails, weld the top then place it in its proper position to be welded to the frame.

goin ******* on ur ass
what about just the roll cage and the suspension, also do you need a helmet when you driving on the streets.

Yes. When riding with Rick you need a full face helmet, Head and neck restraint, fire suit, and a big life insurance policy !
You Never know when a Yucca tree will try to attack, or when a pucker bush in a sand wash will come from under you and throw you over !

BUILDING A CUSTOM RAPTOR PRE RUNNER THE OUTLAW WAY
ForumHeader.jpg

Here at Outlaw Raptor we continuously ask ourselves the same questions...
How can you make a Ford Raptor perform better offroad? What else can we do
to make the truck handle even better in the desert terrain? All while
keeping the comfort and luxury of a prerunner fit for a king?? Well here is
the story of a truck where we did just that!

I met the owner of this Raptor a while ago and from the very start I knew he
had been bitten by the "off road bug". He made his grand entrance by towing
his Ford Raptor from Texas to California for the first Outlaw Raptor Run.
Since that run his truck has not left the shop and he has attended every run
except the last two. This was due to his Raptor being stripped down to bare
bones and starting an "Outlaw Raptor pre runner"

Over the last year I have gotten to know this unique chap from Texas (we'll
just call him "Rick") pretty well and quite frankly, he is a hard guy to
impress! So when it came time to build this Raptor for him I knew he would
have high expectations of the finished product. I have only given Rick some
sneak pictures of the truck up until now. Currently the 2011 6.2L Ford
Raptor SVT Crew Cab now has a 2" chromoly SCORE legal roll cage that leads
into a fully tubular rear. We sectioned out the rear of the frame for more
up travel and added cross braces and King 2.5" bump stops in the frame
structure. The Raptor will seat 4 people in some Sparco Evo 3 Racing seats
with 5 point Sparco harnesses that are mounted to a roll cage so Rick does
not lose anyone while flying over the desert terrain! We fabricated custom
rear shackles and had some Deaver long travel springs giving the rear of
this Raptor 18" of fully usable travel. The rear axle housing was gusseted
and a truss was added for more support as well as a quick dump filler for
the rear end. To help control the rear end of this Raptor we will be adding
some King 3.0 bypass rear shocks. To add some skin to the ass end of this
Raptor we added Trophy truck style rear fiberglass fenders. To finish up the
rear portion there are two 37" tire mounts side by side on the back. As of
this week we are concentrating on the interior by adding new black suede
headliner that hides the roll cage and rear inner pannels, new carpet
throughout, moving the GPS unit into the dash and adding the finishing
touches to keep that luxury "Ritz Carlton" interior feel! We'll keep you
updated on this build as we get more parts in...

Still to come:

Long travel Kit W/King Coil Overs, King Bypasses and bump stops.
Steering upgrade
Custom Trophy Truck style bumper with lights.
Fiber Glass Fenders installed or possible 1 pice TT style fiber glass clip.
Drive Shaft
Exhaust mod
Windshield
