Does anybody know what the four (4) wires on the brake light switch are for? I want to wire in a momentary switch so that I can flash my brake lights without taking my foot off the accelerator or engaging the brakes (this is for idiot tailgators), and I was expecting to see two wires at the switch. Four wires has me guessing, and I don't want to guess.

The brake light switch is under the dash and is activated by the brake pedal arm. One would normally find only two wires come from it to make a complete circuit for the brake lights. The Raptor has four wires, not two. The trailer brake controller is a good guess, but so is a connection to the CPU because it cuts fuel flow when you're braking. Could be something else too, I suppose. The wires are color coded, of course. Does anybody have a wiring diagram that indicates what each of the four wires do?

If you have a meter you could test the pairs and see which are gound , then a test could be ran to close each contact indapendantley . I would suspect it is a monitored loop and the mirco Sw/ or switch is normaly open and then goes closed as the brake is engaged. I was wounder if they did something for redundacey as well with the two pairs. I will try and take a look and see what I can figure out , as electrical stuff is in my wheel house .

Very cool of you to take an interest, Deadeye. I had a momentary switch on my old Nissan 4x4, and it was very effective for warning away rabid tailgaters. I'd really like to have that feature again on the Raptor if I can wangle it. Thanks for the assist!

I've talked with an engineer friend of mine, a gentleman who was a crew chief for high performance aircraft when he was in the Navy. He cautioned that the wires from the brake light switch might not run directly to the brake lights. They might go to the brake system controller, and closing that circuit without actually applying the brakes may have unintended effects. A wiring diagram would be very helpful in making sure that this will work without ******** something up.. Does anyone have a wiring diagram for 2011 Raptors???

While I'm not really sure how tapping a switch is any easier than tapping your foot, to each their own. I went the other direction in that I need to be able to turn off my brake lights when shooting off the back of my truck. I had my audio shop do it, so I'm sorry I don't have a better idea of what they did but they made it sound like they just interrupted the wire coming off of the pedal. I'll take a look and see if I can't help you out in any way. That schematic would be killer!

I am hopeing to have some time tonight to dive into this . I did have a web site I found some wireing digrams from as well and will see if I can find it again. I agree with you freind and I did not want to speculate on my last post . I do have a few ideas to try . I like to put it this way in these situations. We need I know , not I think . Can't afford any mistakes.

I had to work late tonight and got home after dark, so I couldn't get to it at all.
