I bought a boat that has sat outside for a couple years, and the vinyl upholstery is in good shape (no tears, cuts, etc), but is pretty dirty. I have used some vinyl cleaner on it, but still have some mildew and more stubborn stains to get off.

Would you recommend All Purpose Cleaner, or is it too stout? I could of course dilute it down, but not sure if it's the best thing to use.

I like the 3M vinyl cleaner. Works fairly well. May take several applications if it is bad as you describe. First I would scrub everything with a 50/50 mixture of hot water and Vinegar.

I'd start with APC diluted down 50/50 with distilled water and see where that gets you. Our APC is citrus based, not acid based, so even though it's a very strong cleaner, it's still relatively gentle on delicate surfaces.

I heard "windex" fixes everything?!

On a serious note, follow Nick's advice from above, worked for me in the past.
