I think that it uses the BT to initiate the connection. Then switches over to WiFi for the CarPlay connection. Yes as soon as you start it up the phone connects in about 35 seconds.

Not bad. Maybe a good option finally without having to get it in the truck and plug. If I went with this option, I’d then add a wireless charging pad. Keep us posted on how it continues to work for you.

    Thanks

I just received the carplay2air. It would not connect correctly until I did the firmware update. But all in all it was pretty easy to setup. So far between 15-20 seconds to connect. It has had a couple of hiccups where the music will studder 2 or 3 times but it has only happen a couple of times so far. Too early to give a real opinion yet but time will tell.

Please keep the reporting going. Interested in this one.

Also curious if anyone knows if there is an actual security risk from using this thing.

I am not sure if anyone can confirm the security risk. It would not be difficult for this to have spyware in it and unless someone tracks the traffic over a period of time we may never know. They are very good a collecting the data and uploading it in short burst which makes it hard to catch.

Since I use Waze and travel for work, I need my phone fully charged so I don't mind having to plug it in for CarPlay.
