7.3 Gasser announced

Ford announced a new 7.3 gas motor to replace the 6.2... I thought it was going to be a 7.0. The article I read said this new motor will also be a pushrod motor; not OHC. Any more insight?

This is going to be the best thing ever for the Raptor. I am happy to see the V8 come back!

I'm not sure how it aligns with the Raptor or F150s. It appears to be purposely designed for towing in Super Duty trucks. Its an upgrade option over the currently available 6.2L that is not offered in Raptors or F150s. It a heavy iron block, single cam, pushrod motor, designed for torque and fuel efficiency... not exactly intended for high performance. My guess is that the 6.2L and the 7.3L are exclusive to Super Duty.

The only wild card for the Raptor is the 5.2L in the GT500...

Here is more information to chew on. The 3.5 ecoboost is going away from Ford platforms in 2020 as the new 3L twin turbo replaces it.
Extrapolating this, it makes sense the 3.5 ecoboost is entirely going away and a 3L doesn't make sense in the F150. This means the 7.3 is most likely the replacement. 17-19 Raptor owners are going to be angry.

Right - it is in the lower trim level, lower weight version since its capabilities are limited.
