I had some posts in here about my ongoing transmission issues that got pruned...not sure why. Very hard 4-5 shift in Sport almost since new, survived mulple re-flashed and TSBs, told "normal". Ftech1 says 5-6 is supposed to be hard. Now trans is audibly/physically "clunking" on downshifts to 3rd and sometimes 8. I am going to take Ftech1's advice and get Ford to assign a field engineer. I have the factory warranty and ESP, so I really want this addressed correctly.

The first issue is fairly common and a well documented quirk of the 10R80 transmission. Personally mine had a clunky 3rd gear in normal mode especially when the transmission was cold in the morning once setting off. I say had because I have a TCM tune via Cobb/Goosetune that has dramatically improved the feel and smoothness of the transmission. It can still be a little weird on the first shift or two in the morning but once warm it's night and day difference for how it was before. Since issue 2 is popping up I wouldn't recommend this solution to you as you seem to have an ongoing issue that necessitates dealer involvement and I wouldn't tune this issue away in the middle of getting it resolved.

Issue 2 seems downright dangerous and definitely worth continued trips to the dealer IMO. Paging @FordTechOne to offer some better support, I would continue to document your issues since the truck is so new and possibly consider trying a different dealer if that's feasible.

Can you share some info on the TCM tune? Which one you went with and where?

Thanks

5th and 8th still acting up here...

Dealer still says don't open the case. I think a new filter and fluid would help but I am also not a mechanical engineer from Ford.

I just bought a 2020 (35k miles) from the original owner and two weeks later the transmission failed while on the highway.

The truck lost engine power and would suddenly drop from 10, to 6, up to 9, down to 7...etc. It was all over the place.

Prior to that, I noticed a few hard shifts while driving around town and then a small transmission leak began to appear.

Fortunately, it didn't strand me in the middle of nowhere and I was able to make it to a dealership, where it's been for almost 2 weeks.

They're rebuilding the valve body and said that the truck had too much transmission fluid.

I hope this resolves the issue.

Hey guys,

The new owner of a 2020 Ford raptor, 7,000 miles on it, and now I'm having transmission issues. Apparently, this is a known issue that ford seems to disregard.

The truck "bucks/clunks" when shifting into gears 3/4/5, or when downshifting. My truck was at the local dealer, they found that clutch B was sticking. The valve body was replaced, all software was updated, all pressure lines were tested, along with transmission fluid being checked and good. I picked up the truck, after driving it for a bit I'm having the same issues again, now with more.

Today I was driving while in 10th gear? I had to take my foot off the gas, went to re-apply it to the gas pedal to take off and the transmission dropped into 4th/5th/6th, and never re-engaged, causing my engine to revline. I immediately took my foot off the gas, 4 seconds later I wait for the revline to come down, to gently re-apply the gas pedal and the same thing happened.

Everything above was done in normal mode, the clunking seems to occur when the engine is more when the transmission is cold, but will occur when its hot also. The only problem is this occurs intermittently. I was told the whole "the truck adapts to your driving.. blah blah blah"

I mentioned to them that maybe it could be a driveshaft issue? But it seems like most owners are consistently having these issues. Just wondering if anyone can shed some light on the above, it seems like i need a new transmission, but I'm trying not to jump through as many hoops as possible to get one.

Just an update on my new transmission @ which I believe was around 27,*** miles.

Just took it in for service and to inspect for small oil leak and antifreeze was low, below minimum level.

Any I mentioned some hard shifts but mostly when cold between 3rd and 4th which I understood was normal.

Long story short, timing cover was leaking oil so the took it off and re-sealed it.

Early on the SA mentioned that they didn't see any antifreeze leaks so I told them I've never had a vehicle get low on antifreeze unless it had a leak so I asked them to inspect a little more closer, maybe around turbos.

They pressurized the system with 20 psi and checked ½ later with no leaks which made me scratch my head. They added antifreeze to the proper level. I'll be keeping my eyes on it.

They said there was a TSB on the transmission valve body so they did something with that as stated on the paperwork.

They stated they cleared the shifting tables too.

I did request that they disable the transmission's adaptive learning using Forscan and they told me they complied even though they said they couldn't state that on the paperwork.

We shall se how well this transmission shifts in time as for now it shifts great.

Still issues in 5th and 8th. Now... without the tune. Zero issues.
