So, in preparation for my upcoming install of a new t-stat and other parts, I took a look inside my cold overflow tank and saw some very nasty looking white funk.
I’m also a bit confused on the coloration of my coolant. Below are some pictures. I believe it’s supposed to be yellow, but it certainly looks orange near the bottom of the tank (this is after a decent drive at operating temp, so it’s been flowing).
No overheating issues, but doing a coolant flush and fill anyway as a periodic maintenance.
So, is what’s in there now orange? Yellow? I’m filling with 100% yellow motorcraft after a flush with a cleaner and distilled water, then will mix the 100% with distilled after I get most of the old coolant out.
