Update: Ford has denied my repair due to having the Roush PCM calibration installed that they recommended. The failure was found to be the drum. The Ford service writer and mechanic are currently fighting with Ford on this issue. Now they have been told to stop working on my truck. What a damn nightmare!!!

Ford does not warranty powertrain failures attributed to aftermarket calibrations, and they certainly don’t “recommend” them. I’m not aware of any manufacturer that does.

Once you overwrite the factory calibration, subsequent failures are not warrantable. Did the dealer install the Roush tune? Not sure why else they’d be fighting corporate to get it covered.

Roush includes a 3yr/36k warranty with some of their products, so you may want to inquire with them if it’s covered.

What issues? Did the dealer perform an Adaptive Relearn after the valve body repair? Most don’t, which can result in shift concerns as the transmission relearns.

There are no “Raptor” or “10 speed” specialists, sounds like they’re referring to a Field Engineer. Which would be good to have involved since it’s a repeat concern.

These transmissions are fully serviceable. If there are still issues after an adaptive relearn, they need to do a tear down and find out what the issue is.
Dealer said they tried the reprogram first, then valve body after. Didn’t mention if they did a relearn or not. Issues I’m having are somewhere between 1-4 (could be 2-3) it is a slow shift hesitation. You can feel yourself move forward in the chair like brakes are gently applied and then if shifts to the next gear. Also, you can hear the engine rpm go up and then back down once the gear is engaged. After the “repair” it’s more prominent now and frequent than before. ‍♂️

Verify which gears it’s occurring in, if it only occurs going from 3 to 4 when the truck is first driven after sitting, that’s a characteristic of the transmission calibration.

Update: truck went back to the same dealership for the issue not being fixed.. they did the diag process again and found the CDF drum to be faulty, and also a open bulletin to overhaul the transmission too, so that will be rebuilt apparently. Parts ordered yesterday, should have it back in 2 weeks. No mention of back orders or delays. They’ve had my truck for 2wks now. First week while I was out on a business trip, they didn’t even bother to look at it even though I was told to take it in so they can work on it early. This is week 2, next week parts arrive tues-thurs, and start working on it the following week to return hopefully by EOW. No loaner given, rental option still 2wks out and I have to pay out of pocket. Ford corporate said they would reimburse me the cost, and yesterday tells me they only cover 65% of the cost. First ford and not sure I’m liking this right now but we will see how it all goes.
