2017 Steering rack

My steering rack blew up today. It has been intermittently working since my transmission failed 8 months ago. Anyone who has information or can assist would be greatly appreciated. My truck is under warranty. The only way I will go dealer is if they can fix it in a reasonable amount of time without incurring more problems.

After reading some of your other posts, I think you need to find a better dealer, the one you have been going to doesn't seem to take care of your needs. There is probably some warranty deal where to get the warrantied part, the dealer has to install it, IDK. Have you asked your dealer yet for the part? Sucks to hear about all of your problems. I know you are frustrated.

If it’s under warranty, find a new dealer to get it done. It’s a pricy part and the install is quite easy. Hopefully it’s available. Some of the racks are on national back order

Hello out there in Webland! A little late for me. But I encourage everyone out of warranty to check out Dorman part #601-900 EPS Rack. This is an upgraded unit (Aftermarket) that has taken Fords Idea and strengthened up the weak areas prone to failure. I have a complementary rack coming from Dorman for "Testing" purposes. The new rack comes with a programmer and allows for adjustment electronically...not just sport, regular and easy. 11111Some companies actually like to see if and what breaks and how to improve it. Not to say that Ford has not done the greatest job on this front, just another option for everyone (not here on the Forums) who told me that these are not problematic or inherently weak..

Thank You for your sympathetic reply! I tried to get warranty and dealer said no-go. I have 3 dealers within a 30 mile radius and all said out of warranty. Sucks but it wasn't that bad. I am a mechanic and was able to diss-assemble the rack and repair with a new belt. I should not post while pissed. I understand we are all in this together and try to educate people about my experience with the Raptor. I seem to **** people off and can understand why. I am apologizing to everyone especially the Ford Techs and Others who have been personally attacked in any way. It sucks when you have an expensive vehicle that does not live up to my expectations. I have had numerous 4-wheel drive vehicles and this one is a love-hate relationship...

Does this work on 2020 raptor?

I am not certain, and feel live Ford and Dorman are uncertain, sorry..My rack was very easy to repair, just diss-assemble and replace belt. Sometimes if you have high end tie rod ends, water intrusion ruins electronic controls. From what I have researched it is usually the belt.
