I was heading for an R3 from a 9500ix but it seems like Uniden has QC issues resulting in varying degrees of performance. I'm currently leaning toward the Escort IX because of this. The R3 (when performing well/receiving a good unit) seems to me hands down a better unit but I'm not interesting...

The whole thing is really easy. I used the far upfitter switch (the first two were used on some rigid lights). Under the hood I connected the two yellow wires w purple stripe then found the same color beneath the passenger kick plate. I had already bought the escort smart cord and I can tell...
