What is really going to be the hp limit of a 3.5 ecoboost? From what I think I am reading here is that there is not a way to get to 600whp. Did I miss something there?
If you want to get to 600whp, what are the options/costs? Do you really have to go coyote?
I agree - I think we will see this feature coming on most vehicles since we already getting household style power outlets.
Anyone know if Ford is putting this in other vehicles with the other various engines? I would bet it would sell huge if it were an option on Super Duty trucks.
You misunderstood my comment. I do not think that Ford can make the current ecoboost to that level of performance and still have good (low) warranty costs for 5yr/60k miles. Take that a step further, I am not sure it would pass Ford OE validation test to even get in production. The Ford GT has a...
I did cancel my order - a year ago. I was not interested in questioning the reliability.
So, what needs fixed if oil pressure does not solve the problem? Are you saying the spring is not designed properly for the pin?
From a sound quality / drone perspective, the dumps will not achieve what you are looking for. The factory exhaust is ok, the Limited muffler that people are swapping in is really nice. Honestly, the ecoboost just needs a tune, and you will have the feel similar to the subaru.
You are tight that they are not making anymore Gen2s. I think the point might be that the Gen3 will have a few more attractive options that would make it instantly more desirable than a Gen 2. The Gen1 will always be a value machine though. Those were tanks.
I would agree with this - get in a...
I think that is the problem. Making something perform like that at those power levels probably won't bode well for warranty costs (5yr/60k miles). Another powerplant is required to get up in reliable HP.
Thanks for posting this. I had heard the same and was why I pulled out of my Raptor order (currently waiting to see what the updated model gets for an engine and then make my choice).
Since even these updated parts failed, does it mean that there truly is an oil feed/flow/pressure issue...
This is a mistake for Ford. I think they are smart enough to realize this and will not go with the 3.5 eco/power boost. There is absolutely no way this could compete with the TRX and would become the laughingstock of trucks. Say what you will about the TRX, but the masses want that type of thing...
I would agree. This is why I am waiting to see what is coming so that I can buy. If Ford keeps the same engine, or goes power boost, I will go but a TRX. If they do a 5.0 or 5.2, I am in for that.
Agree - the TRX is getting good press from all angles. The only knock is mpg, but let's face it, none of us really cares about that. To me, this TRX equates to a 13/14 Roush Raptor in terms of power/mpg.
I know I will be buying a V8 Raptor, or a TRX.... just waiting to see what Ford is doing...
Excited for this next step in the evolution of the Raptor. Looks like all news points to a V8 available in either 5.2, 6.8, or 7.3 form. I will pay MSRP for either one of those.
Oh. I swear that people here were getting timing chains checked when cam phaser work was done. I thought a few had stretched chains and others didn't... There was a measurement procedure.

Did you have spark plugs from the factory? Did you ever experience misfire or sluggish acceleration? If so, the unburned gas could have melted a cat. Seems weird it happened already at 40k miles.
