I said this from day-1, even during the Engineer chat with the SVT team, I asked about this at Ford chat hours I believe on this site or some other one, and spoken to RPG & SVC. Everyone said it doesn't need them. Ford said that they compensated for axle wrap with the traction control algorithm...
They came with Load: D tires but unfortunately BFG don’t make them available other than to Ford. I don’t recall ever seeing them available retail-wise other than E for the OEM Metric sized site. Oddly enough I do see C now.
Most likely a dealer 'demo' unit that was driven by someone of rank at a dealership. Often times owner/sales mgr/etc. and then it was time to let it go (forced/willful don't know if there are rules/laws on how long they can enjoy this perk). Or it could be a level up from there all the way to...
They also raced the Gen-1 as well. When I say basterized, to my point which you seemingly left-out is that they built tons of 4-doors to cater to the masses who will never race nor use their trucks as intended. They raced a Super-cab not the 4-door. Ford has carried on this basterdization...
The black one needs some tires A.S.A.P but looks like it has been modded some. Like both colors, the shell on the silver one can always be sold if you're not wanting it, but thoroughly look them both over. As for pricing, everything is overly inflated these days--especially the used market.
Not going to bother providing you and others with 'factual' information as I suspect you'd disregard it anyway. I just know that when/if Ford makes a naturally aspirated high-HP truck, I may just get one; for which, I've seen 1st-hand and heard 2nd hand from the owners themselves; no less, seen...
Dude, I'm clearly not worked up anywhere near where you're at; in fact, not at all as my claims aren't baseless. It comes from 1st hand conversations over the years. Let's agree to disagree.
Interesting to see the defensive posts, wasn't intending to start a keyboard warrior war, but on this forum and in-person out in the wild in California & Baja. I hear the chatter in-person, chatter of how well/poor some upgrades are performing, to some issue that needs immediate attention, etc...
What year range of the Gen-2s are subject to the cam phaser issue? Everyone I’ve met has been plagued with it and/or engine replacement every ~30k miles. No matter how much tech and marginal horsepower improvement, I’d take the solid reliability of the 6.2L and overall simplicity of the truck...
To Nick's point, don't let the HDs scare you; for which, the nice artifact of longer shackles other than helping with the ride height lowering effect is that it also helps soften(for lack of a better term) the spring rate of the HDs. Unless it is a setup where you have the 500lbs weight scenario...
All springs settle, even OEM, but lots of folks in my opinion get hung up on the stance (rear-end up/down in relation to the front). Frankly, I dislike rear-up being higher, ok to be a smidge higher or level. However, it comes down to what you do with the truck and how much time/mileage. The...
Look great! I haven't seen too many Gen-1s with replacement stereos and compelled to ask why did you replace it? Did your original unit fail? I know in due time more & more folks will upgrade; however, the OEM unit with the integration of the controls is something I like a lot and not having to...
This kit and Autofab’s kit (similiar design) are the best overall designed kits in my opinion. Whether off-road, towing, or on the street. It’s 100% improvement.
I like the look of the 13' bead-lock wheels with the large 6 holes on the Gen-1s. The early Gen-1 wheels are nice but the later Gen-1 wheels are a bit nicer in my opinion.
One thing to keep in-mind is that the tires that come from Ford have a lower load rating on the Gen-1, thus the high tire pressure of 44psi, and to find them otherwise is not possible with new tires as retail-wise you can't get a Load rating D replacement BFG tire; only E is available. So you'll...
One of the key things to look at in my opinion is to see if there is documented proof of transmission service of some reasonable mileage intervals. My personal interval is ~25-30k irregardless of manufacturer recommendations. If followed, the transmission will live a very long life. If not, then...
Bent axle shaft and/or housing is not a warrantable item. Axel shafts are easy to replace if you're fairly handy but to pay another shop to replace it would be cheaper. Here's the series of things you can do to validate the axel shaft being bent. I found this video and it would guide you to...
What tire pressures are you running? If you're using the pressures on the door sill, it's too high anyway, and would suggest lowering them a bit. You can find threads on this very topic. The BFGs are a great tire and very tough. Having said that, with high street pressures you'll feel a lot of...
Just placed an order for my Gen-1, looking forward to some major improvement with the low & high beam output. I went from the Halogens to the HIDs about 6yrs ago and now looking forward to the LED upgrade. :)
I've had this happen, there isn't much room for wiggle on the Raptor springs on the spring pad on the axle. I later realized that the presumption of the springs being manufactured in a consistent manner has now made me always check any leaf spring install with the center pin (Raptor case, just...
I suppose that this dealership is pushing additives that Ford doesn't insist using. I know from some friends who are/were service writers for dealerships like Ford/Nissan/etc. and some of them quite because the Mgmt. put high pressure on the service writers to up-sell at every opportunity. One...
Did you friend come out last weekend to help you diagnose the problem? As for the above, depending on the mileage, I'd just stick with the belt, but if there is bearing noise then replace the items that have bearings which should only be the tensioner assembly.
