Thanks. If it still looked like that I'd still be happy. Unfortunately work compelled me to fully convert it into a mobile command & control rig. While it worked out great over the fire season, its lost its allure of freedom. Wherever I go now work is always with me... a self inflicted wound...
I have a lot of weight in my ARE cap and a large heavy OL load. Deaver said +3 so that’s what I did. Installed I had a saggy *** and it will get worse. I’m already planning to tweak it a bit.
I had the exact same issue in the exact same location on a 13' in the exact same color. No rust. No corrosion. Just crappy prep by Ford. After getting a few estimates that were stupid for what its is... a truck, I sanded, primed and shot it my self with Dupli Color. Worked out just fine and...
@Vash, Any chance you can PM me the equipment list for your system. Looks like you’ve crushed a research item on my wish list already. Be great if I can check that out and start pricing options.
I steel wool-ed all the parts which basically took down the powder coat overspray. It honestly was treated pretty good. Better than my ARE rack on the cap.
Update on my test of the budget Hooke Rack. Shipping was super quick. Package arrived in only 4 days. No damage and carton(s) were intact. All parts were there... however the nuts for the Rivnuts were the incorrect size (too small). No big to me as I swapped all the hardware with SS hex...
Me as well. I have the distressed color version and want to replace it with something similar as this. I'll do some research tonight... unless the source gets posted up first.
Hi Craig,
I just became a Supporting Member. If you still are producing decals for us I have a spot reserved on my right & left bed panel to represent the Forum. I’d like the decals in Matte Black. Please let me what I’d owe you and shipping costs.
Thanks - Woody in San Diego
If I didn’t come into the unexpected cash I wouldn’t have done it. Ha-ha! I plan to install it myself. But not before I study it all very carefully... before poking holes into my baby. Then again, those wont be the only holes I’ll be drilling into the truck. I plan to permanently mount my...
So today my neighbor and I compared the Hooke Rack on his Tacoma to the A.R.E Roof Rack on my cap. The Hooke metal stock is actually thicker than my A.R.E. thus theoretically could be sturdier(?). I liked what I saw up close however the coating and hardware is crap. While we were at it, I...
I’d shop around for a better price. I have a local custom shop I take all our vehicle to. In November I had my headlights refinished, bumpers, sidesteps & hood vents painted, hood & fender flares rhino-lined for $1100 out the door. Helps that I buy the guys in the shop a case of beer each...
Here's the reply I got back. First off, based on the syntax, spelling and grammar, there's no doubt its an offshore product. The reply answers the hardware question and provides the installation instructions (attached PDF).

Thanks for shpping with Hooke Road. Yes, there 8 rivet nuts...
I imagine the mounting solution is also pirated from existing Ford racks. So regardless we are drilling holes for rivnuts. For my build, ultimately I need the additional storage capacity so I’m seriously thinking about it. If the Hooke Rack’s mounted height was the same (or close) to my ARE...
I know a Taco guy who has the Hooke on his roof and quite frankly it rocks just as well as my neighbor’s Prinsu. Dude swapped out the hardware and primed & reshot his with bedliner. It’s solid and functional. I’ve been eyeballing the KC M Rack for over a year and just cant pull that trigger...
I searched nationwide for a Gen1 and narrowed it down to 3. Flew from San Diego to Phoenix to Seattle to Reno over 2 days to see them all. Fortunately the Reno rig was the best truck for the investment. Drove it back to San Diego that night. Best part about the drive was plenty of time to get...
BEN, Totally agree. I actually have all the tools, a few jacks and grown sons for slave labor if needed. I can also use the lifts at the DIY shop on base. Any other time I'd be all over it but for the next few months I'm crushed with work. That said, You have made me me re-think farming it...
Didn’t want to be that guy who doesn’t use the search function, so I did… and I’ve accumulated lots of information from any threads which was super helpful. But too much info has led to indecisiveness.
Here’s what I got going… On my 2013 SCAB, I want to replace front & rear shocks, add Deavers...
In my previous 2015 SCREW, either my Cervelo P3 or Cannondale SuperSix fit in the back seat with no issues. I have dogs so I already had quilted dog covers and then used a padded blanket to wrap my frame and wheel sets. A bike with a set of CF wheels and a Zip Disc fit perfect and I never had...
All you spoiled kids these days with your access to Raptors. Back in the day we had to build our own trail machines. 30 years ago, at 26, I was ruining a perfectly good sea foam green 69' Land Cruiser FJ40. Did a frame up resto and dropped a 302 in it. Had lots of fun on the Rubicon trying to...
