I think ultimately my problem is what I want doesn't exist. I want a rugged SUV with a super powerful engine. I'm gonna keep my eye on the bronco as stated earlier, or maybe even take a look at the Land Rover Defender. ( I know I'm gonna take some heat for that last comment) :)

I hear ya, no doubt the 4runner is underpowered. Main reason I am considering switching. A V8 in the 4runner (even the 5.7 offered in the tundra) would have gone a long long way and I bet many consumers would go for it. In addition, If the 4runner would have an option for a performance engine...

I agree with Ted Brit recommendation, in Fairfax VA. Several years ago I had major transmission work done on a commuter ford focus I had, they gave me a rental for the full 3 weeks they had it.

GX460 is a great car. Great mix of off road chops and luxury. My issue with buying cars is I always tend to settle and be rationale. Buying cars should never be a rationale decision. Plus I fully admit I have car A-D-D :)

I agree. I've been amazed at how the raptor holds its value based on my search of slightly used ones. The 4runner actually has a great resale value, but nothing I has ever seen compares to the raptor.
