If you don't have any maintenance due where that money is better spent, hell yes. If you daily your truck and run maps/waze/spotify the entire time like I do, it's easily the best $650 you can spend. The system is way more responsive in general. Hope some others chime in with their opinions.

I think you are confusing 2 different things. The 3rd party dongles just enable wireless android auto/apple carplay so you don't have to be plugged in. I could be wrong though...? Only way to get carplay in a gen1 involves replacing the physical hardware from a newer vehicle, AFAIK.

Oh, nice. For some reason I thought the gen2 had a composite pan/plug. The Gen1 plug is centered on the back of the pan in a little recessed area which looks like it would work better with the old style fumoto.
