GEN 1 New Gen 1 owner - What to know?

Personally, my favorite upgrade has been my Sync 3 upgrade from the one guy in the Facebook group. Lots of dash removal but it’s not too hard and uses Factory parts and really freshens up the look as well as gives a faster response on the screen and best of all CarPlay/android auto

    Baja Tremor

Have you seen what the locals drive down there? I think you'll be fine. Also, 20 MILES between trucks? Damn. That doesnt sound fun. Baja rules for us is you cruise together everywhere, spread a little when its dusty, and wait at any change in direction until the next person is in sight. You...

    Jack Stands

I have no complaints with my harbor freight items, used them through many vehicles over the years. No need for something extra fancy (and pricey), it’s a jackstand…

Robby Woods DD 4-link build - The Ultimate Enduro Truck

The fact that your measuring stick here is resale value shows you don’t get it. Some people like building things to be used, not sold.

    Off Road Storage

I went cheap and got a few options off of Amazon, then attached with rivnuts. Havent gone on nearly as many trips as I would have wanted, but the few times i've used them they've been great. The product i got is now unavailable, but this seems to be very similar...

    2011 SVT Raptor tailgate cable

It's not like the struts are made from balsa wood or anything. To each their own. Guess I just like to live dangerously.

Why do you need a cable if you have the assist? It replaces the cable doesn't it?

    Raptor rock crawl

I've set the steps down on rocks a few times, but not really put a lot of weight on them. A buddy has, and snapped it in half. I like the steps and haven't wanted to take my truck into places where I needed sliders, so I haven't really looked into it before. Here are a few pics from 2 trips...

    Raptor rock crawl

Not sure on your truck's setup or your experience, so take this with a grain of salt. I've done Gold Mtn a few times in a well-set up tacoma with better approach/departure angles than the raptor, underbelly skids and frame-mounted rock sliders, I HIGHLY recommend you do not try to run the trail...

Anyone use the balancing beads over wheel weights?

It also sounds really silly when your 80k truck comes to a stop and you just hear the soothing sound of rain coming from your front tires as all the beads stop and fall on your rim.

    Shock rattle how to fix?

Proper torque on the lower bolt is like 230 ft-lbs...lots of people point to that as a cause for front end noise. I've had a front end clunk ever since installing coilovers and cant seem to narrow it down, so I just live with it.

Rescue and Recovery…Tales from the Trail

While I agree with most of what you're saying, I would not quite put the level of danger in cheaper recovery gear that you have. You certainly get more opportunities to use it and have likely seen more than I ever will as far as varied situations, but....many truck owners won't see that level of...

    I'll take a Raptor with a 5.0L please...

I get what you're saying and agree for the most part. But by the same token, if there isn't any big data showing the filters/intakes cause issues.....why not? I just see so many people on forums deathly afraid of a less restrictive air filter like it causes instant death, and I just haven't seen...

    I'll take a Raptor with a 5.0L please...

If the Gen 2 came with a 5.0 I would haver been in one in a heartbeat. Just never been a fan of more complexity than needed in an engine, IE twin turbos. Yeah, yeah, I've seen all the marketing on longevity and such, but give me a good N/A motor (esp a V8) any day. I swear my old company truck...

    San Felipe with the Boys

What he said ^^ I definitely set more weight on them than I wanted, and just had some underside scrapes. My buddy has broken one of his before, I ended up finding him a set on OfferUp for cheap. Most of what I see for sale are Gen2 ones though @John M so if it happens again take a look. I...

    San Felipe with the Boys

Unlike when the 250 came to town, fuel was no problem. I don't think I was ever below a half tank, but I carried a 5gal jug we filled at the first stop just in case. The giant fuel tank on this thing was helpful for sure. San Felipe is one of my favorite areas, because the town is just the...

Day 3: Percebu -> San Felipe -> Percebu Day 3 was supposed to be a relaxing day in Percebu, hanging on the beach, borrowing some kayaks, snoozing in the Hammocks and checking out the Chenowth museum. Exploring the low tide in the morning below our rooms on the bluff. It's a wonderfully...
