Sounds like a good deal. My quote for the powder coating was $700 for the rings so painting seems like the cheaper and best way to get a factory match to the paint color.

How much did it run you to have the rings painted?

I know Premium 91 is recommended (basically required) on the Gen 2. What about the Gen 1? Is Top Tier 87 ok or is premium recommended here too?

Do you do a drop off or pickup line at their school when in the Scab? Any issues?

We have 4 kids (3 of which are still in grade school) so definitely leaning towards Screw I think. I had a 2015 Mustang and the drop off and pickup line was a pain in that. Sounds like it would be a pain in the Scab too. They'll just have to deal with the height of the truck :)

Has anyone found a way to transform their Gen 1 tailgate to look like a Gen 2? I assume it's not plug and play as they are made differently and you can't swap them right? Love that black "Ford" across the back.
