I got my RA for the Phoenix return. It is on its way back.
Replaced the servo for defrost actuator (luckily it was easy to get to) and the hvac is click free now and I’m done with android radios.
Mine is clicking but I'm pretty sure its just calibration. I can see its moving fine but trying to extend past its operating range. Once it hits stop, it clicks.
This occurred after I installed an after market Android radio with hvac controls. Any help you can provide for calibration would...
I cannot emphasize how important it is to get the service history. It saves you $$$ by:
Preventing un-need maintenance
Most shops warranty their work and parts!
If you are going to drop serious $$$ on any used car get it inspected. Make sure your inspector has one of the very expensive ODB...
Ive baselined all the fluids and got service history from the dealer a few hours away. A friendly service advisor told me that those services carry a 2 year warranty! Looks like the rear dif on mine was replaced a few years ago.
Next step is to run some leakdown/compression tests on all the...
I’m having issues with hvac controls and am sending this unit back. I hear clicking in the dash like it is trying to move vent controls beyond their thresholds. I reset to ford low and it fixes the issue but I loose seat cooling. Hopefully no Permiant damage has been done.
I cannot recommend...
Editing this post. It would be a dis-service to the community for me to recommend this unit. It is poorly engineered:
--Much more focus needs to go into Quality control of the HVAC elements.
--There is bloatware in the software build
--Support is shaky at best
--Worst problem: it could cause...
ISSUES TO RESOLVE——
There are a few lingering issue I’m going to work with support on:
Hvac controls don’t remember settings. What sucks is that it reverts to 30f on the drivers side on startup...so every time I get into the car I’ve got to arrow up to the right temp.
Remote start does not...
SECURITY—-
One thing to consider is security of the device. Being an IT engineer, I’d recommend using a new dedicated google account instead of your personal account to use google play store and download apps.
I’m also going to remove all certificates and apps that are not necessary to run...
APPLE CARPLAY———
Apple carplay is up and works good so far. You do have to download and install a 4gb app to run this. The app comes from a private server and is, my guess, not supported by apple. Something to keep in mind.
Gaia offline maps——-
Here is the main reason I got the thing: Offline topo maps with Gaia. I paid for premium which gives me overlays like hunting areas, property ownership, USFS trail systems, and more. If you have never tried it pull down the free version on you phone pull it down on your...
TIME AND OEM CAMERAS ———
Making progress on this. It’s really important to take the screen protector off or the system freaks out and causes slowness and instability as it deals with the cheap plastic cover on the screen. Removing that helped a lot!
Front camera works out of the box! You...
First impressions:
Good:
It went in pretty easy.
Steering controls seem to work out of the box. No extra add ons needed. Only tried volume and channel change so far...it was a busy boating day so I have not tried everything yet...
OEM back up camera works great out of the box. We loose...
INSTALL—-
Box
Cables.
Airbag screws
Connections on truck with old sync 2 out. Notice the red green splice in their harness provides OEM camera power before I soldered and shrink wrapped (lower left of pic)
Plus one more connection for usb under armrest
So it’s in. I opted to put it in. It’s all plug and play with one power splice on their harness:
Installation tips:
Dude on YouTube (redbeard) gets you a general idea on install but it’s different for us:
Passenger airbag needs to come out to get the trim off. Unlike the driver side here is...
When I bought my 2014 the PO had this damage from some custom toolbox setup. Any ideas on repair approach. I don’t need to eat off it...just want it functional and stable. Any ideas? Thanks
Almost done baselining the rig. Started with coolant and power steering. Checked Transmission and it looks red and full. Drives and shifts perfect so I may leave that alone. Dealer records show 60k miles since it was done along with the transfer case, and both difs. Come to find out the...
Hey I wanted to share my experience with a $150 “OEM” AC compressor I just picked up and installed. The whole kit is under $200 and appears to be quality. I have some side by side pics of the compressor unit...very close match to my AC/Delco Compressor. On my 2014 that OEM compressor got 170k...
Yeah, I hear you. Ill be sure to keep the stock setup In my spares box when I go into the desert. Ill look into rigging physical Max AC and Defrost buttons if the physical harness is not used. Will let you know.
Thanks!
Nice.
The main reason I’m doing this, and sacrificing the buttons (which I like) is for the Gia GPS app. By far the best off grid trail app out there and I’m not a huge fan of tablet holders or big gps units.
Biggest concern is reliability off-road. If I do loose the screen do I loose...
It is very clean thank you.
My dad and brothers are car guys so they are giving me shit for buying a high mileage ford. My take on it is I’d rather have a high mileage truck that has been well maintained than a low mileage with no records. I’m dealing with a few typical high mileage issues...
