I run the SPD 170 and have had no issues. Pretty happy with it as it solved my running too hot issues in the middle of the Baja in July. Also you are spot on with the Cobb intake. Thing is a POS! I have to carry multiple filters on trips and wash them and hope they dry in time. These trucks hate...
Hey @ayoustin - I need to replace my front differential cover and want to put the Spicer on my 2018 Gen 2. Where did you purchase and do you have a part #? Thanks man! Your posts are really helpful.
Hey @Kyle@Apollo-Optics - You guys have any holiday sales/specials on SPD products? I'm looking to do Downpipes & Trombone. Maybe HX muffler too. Let me know. Thanks
Gonna be a different issue. There was a recall an certain 2018's where the HPFP bracket was weak, causing a crack and vibrations resulting in broken bolts. This is what happened to mine while in Baja. Remedy was just to replace HPFP with a new one that has a stronger bracket. Been solid ever since.
I had my water pump go out as well on my '18. The dealer also replaced the thermostat. About 6 months after that maintenance, I took a trip to Baja in the summer and started experiencing some overheating conditions. I came back, swapped out my factory replaced thermostat for a 170 one and...
Not sure where you live but good call on not changing the thermostat. I went 170 because I live in the desert and was experiencing overheating in baja in the middle of summer. The 170 solved my problem.
So you would be good with selling me something and standing by your product and telling me it can withstand what Baja has to offer? Without much R&D? Might as well stick a "Made in China" sticker on it.
This is a key point. R&D cost a whole lotta time. Time = Money. I don't mind paying the extra money for equipment that has a proven track record. Take a look at my SVC Front Bumper. It's not there to look pretty and house a bunch of cool lights. I need it to function and boy it has held up to...
I'm about to hit 75k on my 2018. Cam Phaser, Water Pump, and High Pressure Fuel Pump have been my only issues. Getting ready to take her down to Baja in a couple of weeks for some more off road miles! Maintenance is key!
