Road trip with a family of 5 over 3500 miles and 12 days. How does the Raptor hold up?

5,000 mile road trip around US on gen 2 . Will do it again with the gen 3

I convinced my wife that buying a new raptor was a responsible decision. All hail the king.

It’s the best value and makes $$& sense. On my 4th one and the residual and trade value has been good. Waiting now for Gen 4

    Airbags?

Where did you place yours? I skipped the compressor kit for now as I don't think I will be changing the pressure much while set.

    Airbags?

If its Gen 3 , the air lift coil bag sits inside the coil so the travel should be standard OEM, bags should have minimum pressure so spring can move. If Gen 2 , leaf spring, best to use a DayStar cradle for bottom of air bag which will not restrict the travel since the bottom of airbag is NOT...

    Airbags?

Running about 40 PSI. Swapping out for HD 1000 Raptor. Since I will be changing the airbags, I am changing the spring with 1.5 inch lift Eibachs. I'm still struggling on if I can remove the tailgate without messing up the 360 cameras. I have had some conflicting info. Eibach 21-23 Ford F-150...

    Airbags?

Looks like this airbag is 6 inch diameter compared to the universal.dodge that is 5 inch diameter . Should fit better inside coil I hope. The dodge airbag I installed pancaked and will most likely pop. Just ordered the Raptor ones and will try those out. I think the puck will make a difference...

    Tail gate question

The step is extra weight and makes the tail gate heavy - 120 pounds and I would skip it of I could. Ford super duty is moving to a step in the number and handle slot in the rail similar to GMC. This may trickle down eventually.

    Airbags?

Ill need to check them out. I installed the Dodge Air spring coils that seem to be working well. I drop om;u 3/4 of am inch under load. Before the air bag, I squatted almost 3 inches.

Gen 3 Overlanding with Truck Camper

Just loaded the camper with the new dodge coil airbags. Airbags not under load at 20 pounds then aired up to 75 pound and after loading tested at 60 PSI. Now the numbers - measurements from ground to fender: 42.75 inch with no load at 20 PSI 44.25 inch at 75 PSI no load 42.0 inch at 60 PSI with...

    Airbags?

The Tremor is the better vehicle for payload. My dealer had one but with a crew cab. Had a good test drive, Overall, I thought is was too long and a bit high. I am hoping to find a SCAB to keep the length the same as the Raptor to fit in the garage and a standard parking space. I can keep the...

    Gen 3 Windshield Replacement

I had mine replaced with OEM with a $150 deductible at the shop my dealer uses. I think it is a bit noisy compared to stock. Still debating with the shop guy. I think the issue is they closed all the windows and when you close the doors, that popped the seal? Hoping to have it reset in when the...

Gen 3 Overlanding with Truck Camper

I had the timbered on my Gen 2 and when under load, the truck is riding hard on the axle - zero suspension. Also, I think the Gen 3 stock numbers as bigger the the Gen 2, so I don't think it will help. The Dodge HD coil Airbag cost less the the Timbren. Spring shop charged me two hours labor and...

    Airbags?

I was drawn to the Airlift dodge coil air bag as my spring shop recommended Airlift.

    Airbags?

I had the spring shop install the dodge HD inside coil bag. They said it was just easier to remove the coils for the install. Holding good so far for 2500 miles with no load. Will add load in April test.

Payload - does the Gen 3 (37") carry load better than Gen 2?

I had a gen 2 and my spring company added a lead below the top first one. That stiffened up the ride a bit but eliminated the squat completely. The Gen 3 will be a challenge as there is limited after market solutions. I added an inside coil made for dodge HD airbag - see other thread. In the...

Gen 3 Overlanding with Truck Camper

My buddy has a new Dodge Ram and we compared measurements and concluded the HD Dodge airbags fit. I have 2500 miles on the so far running 40 pounds when empty. Will test camper in April. This was a low cost solution and I skipped the air compressor for now. My understanding is when aired up to...

Gen 3 Overlanding with Truck Camper

I spoke with Airlift and they say they are planning on an air bag system but not yet so I am trining these dodge coil airbags as an immediate solution. This summer we only run about 200 miles round trip Last March, I used my Gen 2 to pick up the camper and made it back 3,00 miles from Oregon...

Gen 3 Overlanding with Truck Camper

The Scouts is 1,200 pounds. Removing the tail gate adds back 120 pound to the payload. I have been riding on the bags with no load for 2,500 miles and no issues. Planning on putting the camper on in April.

    Airbags?

My spring guy installed them and they prefer to remove the springs. There is a video on line where the installer compresses and zip ties the bag, jacks up the truck and fights to squeeze it in. The stock inside length was just a bit over 12 inches. For daily driving, mine are aired up at 40...
