Raptor Assault Worthwhile for Experienced Off-roaders?

I'm a moderately experienced offroader. My thoughts are that this is targeted at novices and/or it's a business and they have to protect their equipment & pocketbook from 4 crashes & 6 destroyed Raptors per run... because that's what'll happen if you turn loose a bunch of unknown drivers, many...

Why do most Raptors lean right when jumping?

WRT the bikes, yep. For an exaggerated effect, check out what RC car guys do with the cars in the air. Conservation of angular momentum. That said, because the engine's perpendicular to the wheels, as the truck noses up or down, it'll also have a small precession effect which will be very...

All-New Ford F-150 Raptor Will Debut Feb. 3

Will have to see it in person. Not sold on the aesthetic (in pics at least), really like the idea of +1" travel (for 35s) or same travel with 37s, really like the idea of further advanced live valve, don't care for 98% of other increased 'tech'. I already left foot brake, have zero use for shit...

2021 Ford F-150 Raptor order guide confirms 3.5L EcoBoost V6 as base engine

Looking at the date you posted in the engine thread, mine's on the edge with a 09/18 build date; it got the issue around 18k miles in. Will watch my friends' '19s and '20s and see if they fare better than the <= '18s I'm familiar with (5 raptors), which all had the issue.

2021 Ford F-150 Raptor order guide confirms 3.5L EcoBoost V6 as base engine

Been a while since I've been active here. The cam phaser issue has been addressed?

All-New Ford F-150 Raptor Will Debut Feb. 3

Agreed. More power would be useful on road, but I run out of suspension and driveline way before I run out of power when desert running. I'd rather see +50hp and another couple inches of travel & actual 3.0" (or larger) shocks vs another 200hp and fewer suspension improvements.

Going To MOAB, where to start?

This is a dangerous post. I did this when I was in Moab and now I own an X3 XRS Turbo R. Fins n Things is good fun in a SXS. Also, if you MTB, the whole enchilada is a bucket list item.

    The Aftermath

You're going to like the X3. I took 72" '19 XRS turbo R out to Rally Ready (a local off road track) yesterday; since I've gotten it, the raptor has turned into a national parks primitive roads exploration vehicle and the X3 is the closed course rip vehicle. The rap has a permanent place in my...

    Rally Ready Weekend Video

@wakejunky You got a badass truck, wish there was no COVID so I could have shot the shit. Have older parents I visit often. We got smarter and parked under the tree this time, haha. Had the track totally to ourselves most of the afternoon last time around.

I do not "feel" the speed in my Raptor?

100% agree WRT T = 1/2mv^2. That said, WRT your snapback experience, I drove a C5Z and then a C6Z for several years. >= C5s are notorious for snapback oversteer... and also on throttle oversteer... not sure i'd use them as a proxy for other cars in this respect. Tho their suspension is well...

    GEN 2 Bicycle in cabin?

i do exactly this, except with my enduro & i pop off my wheels. moving blanket, maybe two, bedcover.

GEN 2 How are you all working in the engine bay?

For lighting, I just run a good headlight like this:

@smurfslayer Yep, ~30 mins to the south east.

I do not "feel" the speed in my Raptor?

We had a guy who managed go off the 'Baja Course' when I did that assault in 2019. Epic levels of hamfistedness are required to lose it on that short, tame run, but somehow we had one in our group. I had similar thoughts on it. I'm not badmouthing it too much because I think it's a cool...

    Rally Ready Weekend Video

Bumping to show rallyready some love. The track is now a little different from the OP. I've been out there a few times now, a lot of fun. Mostly run my X3 there because it makes my raptor feel tame. Last month, a friend ran his '19 and we saw an insane built G1 rap; this weekend saw a guy out...

These are some good looking wheels.

    Velocity Blue or Performance Blue

I think I've also seen it on a GT350, but that's also a FP vehicle.

Let’s play a game: Name That Sound!

I considered this; friend's 2019 doesn't do it, and I don't remember mine doing this when new. It's also been suggested that it's an exhaust leak in another thread. It doesn't sound like exhaust leaks I've heard in the past, but I haven't ruled it out. Will report back both places when I get...

Let’s play a game: Name That Sound!

Sounds one of the noises mine is making, not sure what it is. If you open the hood, is it louder from what sounds like the front top of the engine? I will be taking mine in to the dealer this week. Symptoms: not present when cold, reliably occurs when warmed up, very noticeable from outside at idle.

    Cam Phaser/Engine Failure Reports

I weighed a Gen1, but decided the Gen2's advantages outweighed the ecoboost. Weight difference, frame, more power, suspension upgrades, interior upgrades > V8 sound in my ledger. I knew about the phasers going in, put it in my demerit list, Gen2 still won for my use case. Not going to wait 3+...

    Cam Phaser/Engine Failure Reports

I wouldn't have bought an ecoboost if it weren't wrapped in a raptor. Fact is, the raptor has no showroom stock competition... there is nothing close... I really like the concept but don't feel like spending that much of my time building an equivalent at greater cost... therefore... I currently...

    Shell Rotella Gas Truck Oil

I've run it forever in my BMWs, seems to be very common to use in high performance gas cars. Dunno if it has additives that mess with cats, but I haven't seen any issues yet. Not running it in my raptor only because I'm being careful to run exactly the recommended oil weight because of warranty...
