There is a new Recall specifically for this. Field Service Action: 21N08 "PCM Reprogram Due to Engine Shudder" I had the first PCM recall done too, but have an engine shudder issue. Mine doesn't die like yours, but definitely a problem there. I have an appointment to drop mine off in October.

He specifically said 6 cylinder. My X5M has the same engine as that M6 and its 4.4 Twin Turbo V8, not a 6.

I would got with the '17 for the color and the tech package. Wouldn't worry about a one year model difference.

Interesting to hear your thoughts. But as a side note, BMW has never made a twin-turbo six cylinder 6 series. You're probably thinking of the N55 which only has one turbo.
