Right there with you brother. the Peoples Republic of California has been taking a header for the last 10 years. I am stuck here for about another 20 until I can retire. Hopefully, you can find you a good deal somewhere, just avoid Orange County and Riverside County if you can, they are charging...
Ladies and Gents,
I recently ordered the Expedition pack of leaf springs from Atlas Leaf Springs in Southern California. Well I had to sell the Raptor and no longer needed the springs.
i m called Atlas today and they already ordered the steel and have started making the springs and said they...
Lol, isn't that the truth. The debt I incurred will be short lived for the rest of my life in happiness lol. I guess everything in life is a little give and take ha ha
I respect your opinion on this. Chevy seems to scrimp and save on a lot of their truck upgrades which will always leave them chasing Ford and Ram. I do like a lot of the things they included but if they would include everything Ram and Ford did on their equivalent models then they would compete...
Yeah man, If i wasn't doing my side hustle of delivering trailers than I wouldn't have even considered the change but overall it is working out well. I am just glad i get to see all the good stuff still on this forum and follow everyone as they mod their Raptors.
Thanks brother, If i could have afforded California Prices for a Raptor, since mine was limping and I needed a truck ASAP i would have stayed in a Raptor. I really like this truck though and just have to realize I cant jump this one like I did my Raptor.
Man where were you about 8 years ago with that advice ha ha. Getting closer to 40 now so all my relationships come with a standard prenup and crazy clause. if your nuts....i'm out ha ha
Good Stuff Brother. USAA totaled out my car that I had on a front collision without any issues. I have always been impressed with USAA and believe you will get a fair shake. When you get it make sure you throw some pics on here so i have can be envious lol.
They get a new Gen V8 and i will be sprinting back to the dealership. Just got to try to not get married and divorced again, that kills a bank account quicker than a recession ha ha
It's not as bad as I thought. I still miss the Raptor though.
note: I realize I am setting myself up for a rash of shit but gotta sleep in the bed i made lol.
I hear ya brother, and to be honest if I could my job in San Antonio I would be there in a heartbeat. I am currently working in another government capacity on March Air Reserve Base in Moreno Valley, California where the crime is insane. I live 30 minutes away and it is just fine.
I looked in...
You mean Like Camp Pendleton lol. I do agree Marine bases are in some pretty bad areas as well. Air Force bases are nice in regards to the base but the surrounding areas are 90% shitholes. only ones worse in my opinion is Army bases.
I had several friends that had their newer vehicles jacked...
I sold my 2010 with a modified exhaust, Full Body Wrap, and CAI. Dealer actually reduced the offer value since I didn't have the stock parts. I worked with them to get me what I wanted but was told that the mods are not wanted when sold to a dealer. I am in So-Cal and have know they will flip...
I remember reading that post as well. It for sure is concerning for anyone with a new vehicle. Unfortunately the closer you are to a military base (Air Force Vet Here) the worse the surrounding area is.
@Spursguy123 I bought a 2020 Chevy Silverado LT Trail Boss and if I could have afforded it I would have bought a 2020 Raptor instead. The Chevy is a good truck but after trading in my 2010 Raptor for the Chevy i can tell you I miss the Raptor. If you are in a good position to purchase one and...
@richm That is a beautiful set-up. I ended up trading in my 2010 SCAB after i blew out the rear suspension (didn't have Timbren's yet). The truck was having some additional maintenance problems that would have been $5-7K to fix. It sucks big time and i miss her a lot but will be back in a Raptor...
@DezertRaptor I definitely was not going to buy a Tundra lol. I looked at the F150's and just can see myself getting another Ford unless it is a Raptor.
FRF Ladies and Gents,
It is a sad day as I sold my 2010 SCAB Raptor. I tried to tow a larger load with it and blew the shocks, discovered a cracked Radiator, Differential was going out, and the Gas Lid broke. Total repair was around $5-7K and I didn't have the cash readily available to fix it...
@JefeAZ, Was that 4,500 dry or loaded up? What is the length of that travel trailer? I am going to be towing something very similar but the dry weight is 5,300.
@poltrup, This was vital info. Thank you very much for that. i will be close to what you had i think. I am adding HD Atlas Leaf Springs in April (They are being made for me right now) but will make the Tow from So-Cal to St. George Utah at the end of March. I for sure will be doing some practice...
@Dane My total weight is about 6,500 lbs. Dry Weight is 5,300 Lbs. I didn't squat to much when i did some local runs but got the Timbren Bump Stops to help. According to the dealer the Weight Distribution hitch should take my tongue eight down to 450 lbs (just got told that today). I plan on...
@SVTTrooper, Appreciate the input. i have towed a 29' weighing about 6500 lbs and it didn't look to bad but as you said, anything over recommended weight can put unaccounted for stress which is what my concern is. I will take your advice into consideration and see if I can get the springs...
@MEIRONMAN207, Appreciate the info. Seems like it should do just fine but i figured there is more reliable info on the forums than if i called the RV dealer or Ford dealer. Best to hear from people who have done and not from people who just read a book on it. I like the graphics (or wrap) you...
