Do you put weight in bed for snow or not needed

The notion of putting weight in the bed of a truck is an old one, dating back to a time when tow things were different: 1.) There were a lot of 2WD trucks on the road 2.) Most trucks were regular cab, long bed 3.) Most trucks had iron block V8's of large displacement The current crop of typical...

Love the Raptor, but miss my F350 Diesel...

Came from a 2017 F-350 diesel dually. Went to a 2018 Raptor Crew. I loved the Raptor, so much fun, but it can't tow or haul. I miss it, but I ended up dumping it for another Super Duty diesel. Maybe some day I will have the money to keep both.

    Low engine oil pressure

We have a 2016 F-150 with the 2.7L and about 30k miles. It uses absolutely zero oil and has been an excellent engine. Maybe we got a good one.

2017 Question on Sport Mode and 4A Mode

Cool. Borg Warner makes a lot of quality components. The standard Torque on Demand does not include the locking collar, though...as I mentioned above.

2017 Question on Sport Mode and 4A Mode

Sorry, I don't know the model. I believe the transfer case is made by Magna and is unique to just the Raptor. I also believe it is based upon the F-150 transfer case design and uses the same 2.64:1 low range ratio. As you know, the rear diff can be selectively locked and if you have the Torsen...

2017 Question on Sport Mode and 4A Mode

This transfer case has a clutch to power the front wheels when in 4A mode. When in 4H or 4L mode, a mechanical collar locks the front output shaft and the clutch is disengaged. In 4A mode, some power is applied to the front wheels at all times...probably a very small amount, like 10%. More...

    Roll Coal?

I agree these are the best looking trucks out there. Nobody ever rolled coal on me. I also have a 2017 F-250 6.7L Powerstroke. It's not as fast, but its a different experience in that the torque shove is much greater. It also sounds better.

    2018 B&O Play System

No hard drive. The B&O system is just speakers 7 amp...but the audio head unit remains the same Sync3 as before. I had a 2012 truck and a 2010 Lincoln with the hard drive unit. The reason these vehicles had the hard drive was because they used it for the navigation system. There was a 10GB...

    2018 B&O Play System

CD's are going away. This is going to be a single-disc player. You are referencing the old "Sync 1" system which was circa 2010-2012. That had a hard drive called the "Jukebox" and could be had with an in-dash 6CD changer. As far as I know, there were no disc changers in any vehicles with Sync 2...

Whats with dealers only having 802a raptors and not more base models?

Good info. Sounds like you know what you're in for. As for the seats, you'll still have to do the rings on the seat centers, but that's not too bad.

Whats with dealers only having 802a raptors and not more base models?

While I applaud you for making these updates, I would caution you on a couple of things: Just buying an 8" Sync 3 does not mean it will work properly. There are companies that sell these modules meant for owners of base trucks to upgrade. One company I have used in the past is a company...

    2018 B&O Play System

Wouldn't take too much to beat the Sony, lol. It's interesting, years back Ford had an exclusive contract with JBL to do the sound systems on their high trim level vehicles. I can remember my 1996 Explorer Limited had the Ford/JBL system with 4 door speakers (maybe two-way?) plus a 6" sub in...

Post all your 2017 rap problems here please..

2018 truck, 1800 miles, no problems. Has done very heavy towing, some off-road, and the rest just driving miles. The transmission is not that smooth shifting most of the time, the sound of this motor is mostly not appealing, and the back end is not well planted over bumps. Otherwise...

    Gas Mileage.....Impressed!

While it looks nicer than the 4.2" screen, it really doesn't add much functionality. My 800A only has the 4.2, but my 2017 F-350 has the 8" screen in the instrument cluster. The only added 'functionality' is that Nav directions can be displayed in the cluster while the Sync3 screen is on...

    Gas Mileage.....Impressed!

I have 1800 miles on my 2018 now. On my routine 100-mile round-trip drive, which has a speed limit of 50mph with a few 40mph sections and one 55mph section...I can get 22mpg. Coincidentally, that's exactly the mpg my 2017 F-350 diesel 4x4 dually would achieve with 415lb-ft more torque and at...

    Low engine oil pressure

Couple of things - Despite having an oil pressure gauge, the sending unit can only register proper pressure or zero pressure. It's an on/off unit. There is no scale of values on the PID like there is for coolant temp, trans fluid temp, etc. So the low oil pressure light does not necessarily...

Ford got the paddle shifters completely wrong

Engage Sport mode, then pull the shifter into manual and use the paddles. They are much more responsive in this mode. Shifts are definitely quicker.

    Roll Coal?

I don't disagree entirely, but every time I see a clone, I think...wby didn't you buy the real thing? I actually think the Raptor is a bargain. Mine is a base 800A Crew. The sticker was $56k and change; if you could avoid the markup this is great value. Pickups aren't cheap! I guess an 800A...

    Roll Coal?

There are definitely some Raptor-clone F-150's on the road for a lot less money...and they look like crap. It's pretty hard to truly replicate the look of the Raptor, given the plastic hood and wide fenders, plus the wide bed flares. Sure, you can add the grille, wheels, and tires...but not...

    2018 Raptor Production Nightmare

To the OP - sorry to hear your story. Last year I ordered a 2017 Super Duty in May (2016). The dealer screwed up my order, which I did not discovery until July. I ordered a blue Lariat Ultimate dually and they ordered a red Lariat dually. When I found out they immediately re-ordered the...

It might, but when every tenth counts, best to have the compressor already switched off.

2017 Question on Sport Mode and 4A Mode

Best result in RWD with a very small amount of brake torquing and then launch. Simply flooring the pedal will not result in wheelspin. Too much brake torquing and you will get wheelspin. Being in 4A means the front drivetrain is forced to spin, which adds a slight amount of drag on the engine...

2017 Question on Sport Mode and 4A Mode

Nope...you're right. I experimented more and the screen claims it is sending power north even under relatively sedate driving. It does seem to cut it off during corners, which makes sense. The system cannot vary how much power goes to the rear, contrary to what the text from Ford says. It...

Ford got the paddle shifters completely wrong

Hey, I hope the next M5 is awesome. I always loved the E39 M5 with a V8 and a stick...despite all the double-vanos problems. BMW may be able to up the ante with a torque converter from where they were, but *I believe* a DCT is the fastest type of shifting possible. I wouldn't call the Ricado...

Ford got the paddle shifters completely wrong

Hardly...but what did I say that you find so offensive? I didn't insult you...so why do you need to insult me? BMW's first transmission sans a torque converter (called SMG, as clarified by CopB8) was not very good. Clunky, jerky, not great for daily driving. CopB8 also clarified they introduced...
