"Reserve Now" Buttons on Raptor and Tremor

Not to rain on your parade, but in late 2016, G2s were being delivered to customers before the Ford.com build tool went live.

GEN 2 Steering alignment off or road crown?

Chances are good many of the people in this thread experiencing a pulling sensation on crowned roads have the Torsen diff and are driving in 4A. Put the tuck in 2H and the pulling sensation will magically go away. This isn't a flaw, it is simply the nature of how the Torsen diff distributes...

    GEN 2 mirror glass clicking

I have the same issue. From what I gathered online, it seems to happen to tall drivers when the mirrors are set at wider angles. I adjusted mine in a little and that seemed to reduce the frequency of this happening. That said, it still does happen to me occasionally.

How well did the frame hold up your first winter?

Starting the 4th winter with my Raptor and the frame has not rusted through yet.

Trade my problem plagued 2018 for a 2020?

Seems like your truck had a few more bugs than normal, which is unfortunate. But with 35k on the clock, hopefully most of the bugs have been identified and fixed. There is a good chance this truck will turn out to be a very reliable ride for its next owner if you trade it in. Personally, I'd...

Do you put weight in bed for snow or not needed

FYI, 4A uses a clutch that overheats if there is are a lot of traction events. It works fine for dry pavement and continuous use, but on slippery surfaces where it is constantly engaging and disengaging, it overheats and the truck shifts to 4H automatically. But to get it to switch, you pretty...

can't get over how well composed the Gen 2 is in a drift....it's brilliant

The nannies work amazingly well in the raptor. The rear end stepping out a few inches with TC on could easily be swapping ends with them off. I love getting the rear end loose and it is frustratingly hard to do with the nannies on. Turn them off and it is scary how quickly the rear end comes...

Gen 2: Is the V6 right for the Raptor??

I'm not sure the Gen2 is piling up at dealers any more than the Gen1 did back in the day. Here is an old thread with all the invoice deals people were getting on the Gen1. It stretches well past 400 posts. Invoice deals were pretty common on the Gen1 too...

    Electric Assist Raptor.....

"the Aviator Grand Touring adds 781 pounds, mostly from its batteries, to the aforementioned curb weight of the all-wheel-drive Aviator. So, it's heavy and electrified. Lincoln has built a four-wheeled Fat Thor."...

Setup for drag racing on dirt

I'm late to the party, but achieving the highest performance on dirt is different than tarmac. Many times it is faster to spinout because that action sweeps the loose surface material and gets the tires down to the hard-pack underneath. Rally cars spin their tires like mad around every corner...

    First Winter with a Pickup

If you race on ice, you have nothing to worry about. The biggest adjustment is getting used to the size of the truck. But after drifting it around a few corners, it starts to feel normal. I lived in the high Rockies and drove RWD performance sedans and 4WD vehicles over mountain passes during...

    Dealer Appraised My Raptor.

I'm not "ignoring volume of production", the market is ignoring it. Used buyers want a "mass produced" 2017 Gen2 a lot more than they want a "rare" 2014, to the tune of $18,000 more going by typical sale prices of 2017s ($58k) vs 2014s ($40k).

    Dealer Appraised My Raptor.

Right now Gen1s are depreciating faster (percentage wise) than Gen2s. See my post above that shows the numbers. (gen1 lost 20% over last two years as compared to 15% for gen2)

    Dealer Appraised My Raptor.

The Ford beancounters disagree with you. They view the powertrain as the most reliable portion of the vehicle and is why they are willing to warranty it for 5 years. Everything else they are only willing to cover for 3 years. Ford sells a million EcoBoost engines a year and there is no cham...

    Dealer Appraised My Raptor.

Most people are smart enough to realize the 2017s have less than 6 months of bumper-to-bumper left and that is definitely already reflected in their current $58k prices. People who want a warranty buy new. People who don't need the comfort of a warranty save money buying used.

    Dealer Appraised My Raptor.

Funny how you mention people abandoning an older model, around me I went from seeing five G1 Raptors a day to now where I almost never see them on the road. As soon as dealers dropped the ADM, most G1 owners in my area upgraded. The rush of trade-ins also explains why G1 Raptors have taken such...

    Dealer Appraised My Raptor.

I apologize for bringing facts to a G1 v G2 fight, but a little research shows: The typical 2017 is listed for $58k The typical 2014 is listed for $40k Typical = median = 50% percentile of all trucks nationally listed on Autotrader. (sort by price and look at prices on the middle page) This...

Washboard Dirt Roads = Major Problems

Just like there's always one guy who has no idea what he's doing and automatically blames his equipment. You're right, the Raptor sucks. You will be so much happier upgrading to a 4runner.

Washboard Dirt Roads = Major Problems

Did you read any of the previous replies? If you don't understand how to drive your raptor, you really should trade it in for a 4runner. And if you are comparing a motorcycle's handling to a truck, you really don't understand how this works and definitely shouldn't be anywhere near washboards.

Washboard Dirt Roads = Major Problems

I post this in threads every time this comes up, but the things to remember #1 your Raptor (and virtually every other vehicle out there) is it is inherently stable and #2 it is far better at driving than you are. What I mean by this is if you feel the back end "stepping out", don't worry about...

Washboard Dirt Roads = Major Problems

Every spring and weight combination has a natural frequency, ie harmonic vibration. The most obvious example people are familiar with is a child pumping on a swing. Get the frequency wrong and you go nowhere. Get it right and you are flying 10' in the air. The same applies to our suspension...

GEN 2 Highest mileage Gen 2, Who has it?

The most "used for what it was built for" Raptor on this site. If I remember correctly, he traded this one in for a new one around 70k. https://www.fordraptorforum.com/threads/50-000-miles-service-review.62255/

GEN 2 My thoughts on my new Raptor and Questions !!

If you are not feeling it, then you never will. As you already said, this is a lot of money to not be thrilled with it. I love my Raptor, but I also know it isn't the right vehicle for most people.
