    Valve Cover Issue

Well, well, well! I had to go to the dealer for some parts for a different vehicle, so while I was there I thought I'd ask if they had a cover. Et voila!

Yep, vendor emailed that the product was backordered. I guess I'll just place an order with my local dealer and wait…

    Valve Cover Issue

(sigh) I changed out the spark plugs in my 60K-mile '17 this afternoon and found a nice puddle of oil around the frontmost bolt on the cam cover. Less than $200 for a new left-side cover and gasket (assuming the online vendor really does have them in stock), but it's probably a full afternoon's...

GEN 2 Which plug should I go with Sp 550 or Sp578?

I'm installing the SP-594 plugs on my '17 and can confirm the shop manual specifies 133 lb in and makes no mention of anti-seize. The coil-on-plug retainers (bolts) are tightened in two stages: first to 62 lb in, and then an additional 50°.

Fumoto is coming to the rescue for that plastic drain plug

I just installed the Ronin, so we'll have to wait and see how well it works for draining, but it can't get any worse than the OEM !@#$ show:

    2017 with Sync 3 Issue

Add me to the dead APIM list. Sync3 would take many seconds to respond, then suddenly catch up. Typically this would result in suddenly blasting the radio at full volume, playing a few seconds of every SiriusXM station for a minute as it scrolls through the station list to catch up, or showing...

GEN 2 Front Camera simple relocate no cutting no custom bracket. 30 min job

Cool! The front perspective in the 360° view is a little wonky, but it beats looking at the back side of the bull bar. I might have to do the same on mine—thanks for the write-up!

    Throttle stuttering on acceleration

The tech could have updated the firmware without noting it, but he also probably disconnected the battery to perform the recall repair. This would have reset the TCM & PCM and forced them into learning mode again. On my truck that sometimes reduces the "missing-like" symptoms for a bit. I...

    Class IV Hitch

Right, the ones that replace the factory hitch don't have the necessary hangers for our dual exhaust system. So, if you want to replace the hitch you'll need to find someone to fab and weld hangers.

How long do OEM rear shocks last?

Not sure why you'd buy used shocks for $300 a pair when you can get yours serviced to like-new condition from Fox for only $230 a pair? Now, having said that, it sucks to have your truck up on jack stands while you're waiting for Fox to turn them around—as you point out. In that case you can go...

    Throttle stuttering on acceleration

The lack of power at part-throttle happens on mine, and it's quite annoying. I'll register a complaint when I bring my truck in for the seatbelt recall, and I've bought a set of the cooler plugs that I'm willing to try, but I think the real fix needs to be done by Ford in the ECU.

GEN 2 107 MPH Speed limiter

107 MPH is the speed limit for the OEM KO2s. I don't believe that that's something that can be changed with FORScan; you'll need a tune to defeat the limiter, and I'd recommend different tires, too.

    First Oil Change

Really not true. Talk with the Toyota, Audi, and VW owners with sludged engines even though they used the specified synthetic motor oils for the recommended intervals. Synthetics will shear out of grade via mechanical action, or thicken-up due to viscosity index improvers breaking down. While...

    Diamondback bed cover

Yes, it's intimidating to drill holes in the bed! I followed the written instructions, and while they worked ok, in hindsight I'd set the cover onto the bed, put some weights on the cover to simulate how the weatherstripping will compress over time, adjust the rod's brackets so they're in the...

how many gallons have you put in?

Wow, I thought I pushed it at 33.669 gallons. I hate going below half a tank because most of the pumps around here cut off at $90 or $100, making me do another credit card transaction to fill the tank.

    Class IV Hitch

I'm towing a 6,000-pound trailer that can't use a weight-distributing hitch (it uses a polyblock coupling), so I'd like the hitch to be able to deal with more than 500 pounds tongue weight.

…but, it doesn't look like any of these aftermarket hitches include the attachment points for the exhaust supports. Argh!

    Class IV Hitch

Called them (Curt) this morning. The woman I talked with didn't know the answer, so she went to talk with one of her techs. She came back and said that 14016 was the one I'd need otherwise I'd lose my rear bumper. (!) Looking at the installation instructions for both, neither of them (14016 nor...

    Class IV Hitch

OK, this thread has me considering upgrading since my new trailer has a tongue weight a little above 500 pounds, the max the stock hitch is rated for. (I've added +2HD Deavers and Izzy's tow assist package so I'm pretty confident the suspension and frame can handle the weight.) I like that...

    Diamondback bed cover

The only negative I remember from my Diamondback is the cross-bin doesn't hold a lot of weight. I had a bunch of recovery gear in it and it'd sag and slide to the point where it'd fall off the bed sides and wedge itself diagonally. It was a real PITA to unload and try to get it unwedged without...
