Mine isn't perfectly flush but it's nowhere near that bad. The rear seal makes contact with the top of the tailgate.

Honestly, if you are towing, mid perch to stock isn't the solution, get better rear springs. I think all the major vendors offer an HD set. I don't tow anything and I'm mostly a street queen (well, my truck is!) and my rear springs are sagging @ 17k miles. I believe it was due to being on...

Wait if you like but it's absolutely worth it. I went about 6 months stock, then went to top perch for 6 months, the went down to mid. Mid is where it's at. No one ever went from mid back to stock that I'm aware of. Several people went from top to mid.
