Local fab shop will be designing and building a custom front bumper for me starting this week with a receiver. Should be enough room to leave intercooler alone. I'll post some pics as soon as they get something put together.
Local fab shop is drawing up some designs. Clean, minimal bumper with 2" receiver. That way I can keep winch in the bed and just put it in front when needed. Will have to relocate cruise control sensor but intercooler can stay. Hopefully have it done next week sometime.
Check some aftermarket dealers in your area. I bent my front bumper. A local shop has 2 replacement front bumpers on order that should be here in a couple weeks. They'll call me when they get a factory take off.
Just the bumper. Skid plate is fine. I found a local shop that has 2 replacement bumpers on order is going to call me as soon as they have a factory take off available.
You will get rubbing inside the fender wells under full flex with factory tires. I've got a spot as big as a quarter rubbed through the paint inside my driver's side wheel well. Not an issue with a paint you can touch up but don't know how a liner will stand up to it.
Three options within 60 miles of my house. 86, 88, 90. 90 runs $.30-$.40 over 88 octane. That's $12+ per tank. In a truck that has 4000 miles in the first month that adds up. She's going to get 88 most of the time.
Bumper pics
Here's a couple pics of the bumper. Sure makes me sick to look at them.
Edit: To make things even worse. We figured out where this happened. It wasn't at the sand dunes or while running the truck. It appears to have happened while crossing a draw at my buddy's house picking...
Sand dunes yesterday. Hit a dune or jump hard enough to bend front bumper up right in the middle. Far enough up to break the plastic honey comb over the intercooler. Guess a bumper needs to be found now. Either replacement or maybe I can find a take off from someone who did a replacement...
How hard was it to remove and separate the grill? Waiting on lights and haven't really looked yet. Lots of room in there though. Plan on mounting lights in there as soon as they come in. Need the lights/siren for fire/wreck calls but want them as hidden as possible when not running. Thanks...
I always work out close to computer mileage. Maybe driving habits affect average computations? I can also get 1-2 mpg better than my wife on any vehicle. haha. Even just driving down the highway. I can beat her every time. she hates it.
I have a 2016 Chevrolet 1500 crew(company truck). The thing gets 10-12 mpg no matter what I do and has a 20(usable) gallon gas tank. A 14 foot utility trailer put this thing into single digits. I have to fill it up literally every, single day. I have carried a gas can in the back since it...
Planning on a camper shell. That and tools, chains, etc that I haven't put in the new truck yet should help with weight. Hopefully keep it planted that much better.
Just got back last night from a 4 day trip. Totals according to truck.
24 hrs 17 min driving time
1253.9 miles
17.4 avg. mpg
That's averaging 5 mph over highway speed limits and lots of around town and mountain roads while in Colorado for 3 days. Also lots of remote start/warming up in below...
Blue SCrew built 10/16 delivered 1/18.
Had the truck 2 weeks last Wednesday. Left for first road trip on Thursday morning. Truck had almost 1400 miles when we left for Colorado. Trip was from Lamesa,TX to Pagosa Springs, CO. After 3 days in Pagosa, we drove home with a quick stop in...
90 miles on truck at delivery with 0 miles to empty. Slight piece out of edge of hood graphic. Condensation in one rear clearance light. Both minor issues dealer will take care of. Everything else good so far. Really impressed. Love the truck. Bed liner scheduled but don't know when I can...
