Did this group handle your first rebuild? I had the same experience only mine lasted under 10k with zero offroad miles. The oil was jet black and low without leaking. The flutter stack shins were installed in the wrong order on both front shocks. The rear shocks are in the same condition yet...
I just had my shocks rebuilt by a shock specialist in SoCal. The front shocks were low on oil (but were not leaking), and the internal shims were in the wrong order so the flutter stack was actually acting as a block. The rear shocks were unable to be rebuilt because this group either cross...
And how exactly did they resolve your issue? I’m very interested to know what they did for you. My shocks are getting rebuilt again soon cuz they’ve been a problem since day one and are now dangerous to drive with. It’s very strange that all 4 of mine are failing at the same time with zero...
I’m trying to get an exchange on the shocks sent to me because they don’t seem like they were ever rebuilt. The dampening on them changes drastically and bounces my truck all over the place. I have yet to receive anything but info as to how nitrogen shocks work. I asked for details about their...
It's beyond confusing man. Now if I turn off my truck and shake my wheel I'm hearing a audible clicking sound from the steering column. This all started a year ago when I bought it and had ford align it. They took it to a shop and when I got it back it hasn't ever driven the same. It drove...
Dude thanks for your input. I'm so pissed about this issue. I get bumpsteer over practically every bump in the road. I've put new wheels, new tires, rebuilt shocks, new PS pump, and new rack on this thing and the issue has only gotten worse. Ford tells me everything is "nice n tight". I'm at a...
I'll take my truck to the shop and run this step by step. I think it may be air in the system cuz it tightens up after turning left to right several times while driving slowly.

The rack was bought new from ford. Just got brand new tires as well and this steering is dog shit. Ford says it’s “nice n tight” you can hold the wheel straight on the freeway and feel the tires moving left/right with the road. There’s zero resistance to the road, it takes the steering wherever...
Just had it aligned after the rack was installed and I'm running stock tie rods which weren't replaced when the rack was installed.
I can hold the wheel at 2 & 10 and feel the wheels wobble left/right almost the entire time driving.

Pump: Motorcraft 3A674 (STP-281)
Rack: Motorcraft 3504 (STG-540)
I'm not sure what they're torqued to. These damn shops have no idea what they're doing.

Bought a new power steering pump and new steering rack and my steering feels looser than before. It's insane how wobbly it feels going down the road. Going to the dealer tomorrow for diagnosis.
Anyone have any ideas as to what the hell is going on with my truck?

I just installed the rebuilt shocks last month and still have the wheel shimmy. Had a new pump installed last week, next is replacing the rack cuz the boots have damp spots on both sides. It must be leaking and not providing enough resistance to the road, causing the wheel shimmy over small and...
Ok so I just had my pump replaced after having my steering get very stiff last week. It was leaking so they replaced it but my steering still feels stiff. Can't tell if it's supposed to be this way or if something is still in need of repair.

I'll have the rack checked out for sure. It's hard to tell what's causing it. Could be shocks needing rebuild, pump, or rack. Or all 3.

Fluid levels are solid. Now that I'm paying more attention it feels wobbly now if the steering wheel is centered, like theirs a little play left and right. But definitely feels firmer at times and easier to turn at other times.

I'm started getting inconsistent steering feel in my truck recently. Sometimes it's stiff to turn the wheel and sometimes it gets very easy to turn. Could this be a pump issue?

Would one of these systems (with or without modification) work with the Gen 1 stock shocks? It would be amazing to have more adjustability on the Gen1 shocks. I.e. adjusting the shocks to a level in between perch levels.
