Well, fate stepped in and put a nail into one of my relatively bald tires. And Discount Tire was having a sale for Black Friday/Cyber Monday.
So I got the Conti Terrain Contacts in 315/70/17, E load range. Definitely more of a firm ride than the KO's although they're at 44 psi and I'll...
How are you liking the Contis? I'm in a dilemma in that most of my miles are street, often in wet and I hate my BFG in the rain. But on dry I push that truck hard. My DD is an Audi R8 and my driving style is similar between the two. I do occasionally get off road so I still need a decent AT...
After reading various forum comments and reviews, I've come back to those Continental terrain contacts. Wish they were D rated but the few I've found that are either struggle with wet or dry
Anyone here push the terrain contacts on the street ?
I don't want to beat a dead horse but this situation may be a little unique . I have a 14 Raptor that spends 95% of its time on blacktop. About half of that is on wet pavement. However when on dry it is driven rather aggressively. Very aggressively. I've cooked through the original KO's in 17k...
Yep. And when I replace the GTR it will be with another dark red car, probably a 570s. The color looks good and it hides minor imperfections remarkably well.
I currently have a '14 Raptor with ruby red metallic paint and the two tone black and red interior.
I love the truck but I'd prefer to move to a turbo V6 over the V8. Over the last 3k miles I've averaged exactly 10.0 mpg. And with Nashville roads getting shittier every day, the Raptor is...
I'm a tad OCD too.
Truck is garaged for the next week or so while I get it back to what I consider acceptable. Sadly now my GTR has to live outside since the truck takes up so much room. At least it is easier to clean.
Taking the running boards off is a good idea. Time to go shopping for a...
I noticed that about the bed caps. It was really pissing me off every time I'd go back and see little specks of dirt.
How do I get them off? It's not simple little screws.
Went to Wooly's in TN. I played follow the leader behind a guy who takes his old Dakota there all the time. I'd watch him drive up a hill carefully avoiding deeper ruts, rocks etc. Then I'd go up slowly, get impatient and haul ass up to the top. First time I've had it off road and it kicks...
I don't know if it shifted, I assume it did. I really wasn't paying that much attention, rapid acceleration is kind of the norm for me.
I do know my wife didn't get irritated with me, which happens when the pedal goes all the way down to the floor.
I'm grateful I wasn't in my GTR, that car...
Got pulled over today. We were leaving my son's soccer game and I turned right at a stop light and, with a straight road and no cars in front of me, I stepped on the gas hard but NOT to the floor. I was in 2nd gear when I did so.
I made it about 1000 ft (I guaged it on a map) when an oncoming...
Tried a magnet through the hole in the fender after removing the SVT piece. Couldn't get it to budge. There's a little area down there where smaller parts can really lodge in tight.
Finally got it out with a coat hanger fashioned into a hook in just the right shape to grab it. Took quite a...
Thought I'd be slick. Being an ENT I have a long flexible scope. Went through the SVT grill and figured I'd see where it landed. Nope. On the plus side, no spiders. When I was reaching through last night I figured I'd be bitten or stung by some hidden spider or scorpion.
Next step is roll...
Deep enough that I didn't think any would come out. There are only 4 long ones left but they're very faint unless you look with the right angle.
There were also a good number on the doors. Megs Ultimate Compound is great for swirls but it's a lot of work for anything beyond a superficial...
When I bought it with 6k miles the truck was covered in fine swirls. Not aweful, but in the sun it definitely reduced the depth of the paint. So the plan was to polish them down and wax it. Well, turns out, once I started getting the surface swirls out the deeper scratches all became...
For water spots that have been there a while you can try a cleaner wax. If that fails, than really any of the polishing compounds should do. Meguiars Ultimate Polish is relatively easy to do by hand. A DA polisher would dramatically cut the time down though.
As I began to look I found some nice webs and a nickel size spider chiling near the opening. For all I know he's the lookout for the hoard now pissed off at me for hitting them with a flashlight.
The truck has been sitting in my garage for 3 weeks undergoing a paint correction before I seal...
I was using a 1" diameter LED to examine swirls/scratched and I had it sitting on the wiper cowl. When I moved a rag it lined itself up beautifully and slid down along the fender, right into that gap where the fender is bolted on under the hood.
Who the hell thought it was a good idea to...
I've searched and looked at a lot of threads but none really address the comparison well. I've seen a number of comments by people with non-diffused lights that think diffused might be better. I won't use these much on a daily basis but it would be nice to have a general purpose light when out...
Either my flaps or my Raptor must be different than everyone elses.
On the rear, getting the top bolt drilled 1/2" from the top border of the flap, it still leaves a little over 13" of clearance. To get down to 12" and fully protect my exhaust tips would require a new hole below the factory...
Anyone know a good muffler shop in the Nashville or Brentwood area that is open on weekends? The only one's I know of are the Midas chain stores.
My Corsa cat back is sitting in my family room and I'm itching to get it on the truck.
Also, when are we all going to get together and run over...
