Ok, did some more reading on this. The reason I'm feeling shimmy in my steering wheel, which I didn't previously have is because the beads do not work well for lateral balancing..
I had a type of hopping, or radial balance issue that existed before and that is completely gone.
This makes...
Update on mine. Got them installed on a new set of wheels, with used Goodyear Duratracs. They seem to work great at lower speeds, but I get a vibration around 75mph and some weird pulling/shaking in the steering wheel that did not exist previously. Just had my alignment done a few weeks ago and...
**SOLD**
Selling my rebuilt OEM shocks form Forged Offroad.
See details here:
https://forged-offroad.com/shock-rebuilding/?v=7516fd43adaa
I had them rebuilt over the winter, but scored an awesome deal on some 3.0s. Was going to keep these as backups but we are moving soon so garage space is...
The main advantage of the RCVs over just disengaging vacuum would be strength. There is A LOT more shear area on the RCV splines when compared to the stock IWE hub and I would be willing to bet the material is much stronger (nearly everything they make is out of 300M lol.)
The downside to...
I had some issues when installing mine, thinking that you leave the IWE actuator in place. I called RCV and you have to remove the ENTIRE IWE. The entire piece shown here (with the 3 bolt pattern) comes out, and the sleeve takes it's place.
It seemed weird to me at the time also, but once I...
Welcome! I'm in Utah also so keep an eye out for a Terrain Crew Cab with a SVC front bumper.
Your spreadsheet and analysis seems a lot like what I did. The Raptors are actually a great deal when compared to other options, esp. if you consider depreciation. It was actually cheaper for me to own...
Welcome! I'm in N. Utah as well.
Maybe we need a thread somewhere to schedule some off road meetups! I spend alot of time in Moab but haven't run many trails up here. Hoping to change that this year.
Does anyone know the location of the trails they use? I'm a local and would like to try them out in my Gen 1 lol.
I recognize the rattlesnake trail, wonder where the "baja" course is at..
I love the look of those wheels but I've always thought that curved spoke design just has a ton of stress concentrations.. However, I'm sure it's possible to destroy any wheel under the right (or wrong) conditions.
Do you have any more close up pics of where the wheel failed? Was it at the...
The more options the better. I have all kinds of makes of vehicles. The Raptor is my first Ford and I'm stoked on it.
Still, I'm intrigued by the new ZR2 Colorado and I really hope Nissan has the balls to follow through with the Titan Warrior concept...
He edited the post lol. I was thinking it was about vinyl wrap also.
Ohh the things I could have replaced with a LIFETIME parts warranty lol. I'd make sure there isn't some clause about maximum replacement costs and voiding the warranty due to abuse..
For the guys that did not like towing with the bumps in contact I'm curious how much pressure were you running?
I tow a 8000lb trailer using the SVC adjustable bump kit. I started out ~150psi in an attempt to get the truck nice and level and that was uber-stiff, esp after it heats up (it's a...
I've had a whine going on this winter when starting cold. I planned on replacing my serp. belt anyway, guess I'll do the pulleys too.
I'm thinking I'll do both puleys and the idlers shown below (#2 and #4)
Anyone know which ones were replaced to fix? Also, did you replace them yourself or...
The dealer costs for changing plugs seems insane. I ordered that articulating socket off amazon. We'll see how this works out!
Thanks everyone for posting the details.
Most people are already carrying these but I always keep ratchet straps in my truck. I've used them just like these trac grabber deals:
https://www.amazon.com/Trac-Grabber-Unstuck-Traction-Solution-Cars/dp/B01BDWRECU
You can run them thru your wheel spokes and put the metal ratchet piece on...
This wire harness hanging down has been bugging the sh!t out of me. Glad someone also thought about this and figured out how to move it!
Props!
Kaiser, anyway you could get the links for the photos working again?
