Illuminating the Bed - Project Underway

Sorry... you'll have to read the other thread. Just don't have the time to work out all the details for a kit version. Very much appreciate the vote of confidence, though!

    Parts List for Bed Lights

Hey Gang! Unfortunately, I do not have time to fine-tune my light setup to commercialize and sell. But I do have time to share the parts list with everyone who expressed interest and might want to take a stab at a similar DIY job. Here you go: 1 6000-6500K Strip LEDs (5M) $33.75 2...

Modified Interior with Fresh Paint and Graphics

They're held in with what I can only describe as the plastic equivalent of rivets. We separated them from the door trim panel very gently using a plastic trim removal tool. They all pushed right back in when the job was done (kinda like Legos), but I threw in few pieces of exterior grade...

    Reverse Camera Question

Thanks, Jaclyn! I think the confusion stems from what is actually available to us. Does the latest software include both fixed AND active guidelines for the REVERSE camera? And is this software only available to Raptors with the MyFord Touch system? Thanks in advance, SPYC

    Reverse Camera Question

I am missing center-line and active guidelines on my reverse camera. I've seen photos of the Raptor camera showing the black dotted line in the center and the blue active guidelines when turning the wheels, but I've never seen them on mine (2013 model). What am I missing? Is there a setting I...

Illuminating the Bed - Project Underway

Sorry, Nick! Been out of pocket and will continue to be for the next few weeks (work travel). I would be happy to put together a complete parts/supplier list to share with everyone when things settle down a bit. Thanks again for the interest. ---------- Post added at 12:07 AM ----------...

Modified Interior with Fresh Paint and Graphics

Thanks, IR! Looks fantastic in person and it was just enough to make the point without going overboard. I almost went with the lighter Yeti color, but the Raid really tied the interior and exterior together. All the best!

Modified Interior with Fresh Paint and Graphics

Removing the panels is not all that difficult, but it can be time consuming. As a matter of fact, I found a couple of threads here on FRF that detail the process (a quick search should get you there pretty quick). Just take your time and be sure to invest in a good set of plastic trim removal...

Modified Interior with Fresh Paint and Graphics

I just can't leave well enough alone. Couldn't stand all the off-colored silver and chrome in my cab, so I made a few changes. May not suit everyone's taste, but I love it. The last pic is of the matching wallpaper for MyFordTouch. Side note - the shifter has since been covered in satin...

New owner in the Bay Area

Welcome! I live in Texas, but my company is in Mountain View. Sounds like we're in a similar boat. I'd love to drive my Beast down the 101 and torment all the Prius, Leaf and Tesla owners! Good on you, my friend!

    Matte Gray Paint or Wrap

Do NOT paint it. You will regret the decision. I worked directly with the paint manufacturer on a $5M prototype show car and it still only held up for about 6 months. Please save yourself the same headache and wrap it.

Illuminating the Bed - Project Underway

Thanks! All in, I've got about $120 in materials plus my time... and lots of it. I had no intent to make something to sell, but am humbled that you would ask. I'll be working through some design changes to try to improve on it and make installation easier. Stay tuned!

Illuminating the Bed - Project Underway

Ok folks, here is the final product. Many thanks to everyone for the support and kind comments. I hope you like it as much as I do! Sorry 'bout the poor picture quality... I used my phone to take these quickly.

Illuminating the Bed - Project Underway

A little hard to see in one image, but the lights span the entire length of the bed. I drilled a new hole in the pillar, installed a rubber grommet, and protected the wires with white heat shrink to hide the install as best I could. Running electric now and will take illuminated pics soon!

Illuminating the Bed - Project Underway

Hit a bump in the road last night during the install. Looks like I got a bad potentiometer. New one on the way now. Will go ahead and complete the install without the dimmer and fix it next week when it arrives. More pics coming soon!

Illuminating the Bed - Project Underway

The LEDs will be installed under the bed rails in aluminum housings with flood lenses. For my use case, I want to incorporate an illuminated power button and a separate dimmer. The images above are of the box that will protect the potentiometer, PCB (printed circuit board), switch housing and...

Any recommendations??? Something that doesn't leave a nasty, slippery, Armor All-like finish?
