The wiring in the OP works perfectly for me. I actually wired the compressor and air horn to the up fitter so that both are hot when the switch is on.

TO OP, just curious - what kind of train horn system do you have and how long does it work before it craps out? I had the same thing happen to me with my Kleinn horns but Kleinn sent me a new relay harness and it's worked fine for the past few weeks.

I don't see how the axle would hit the horns, even at full compression. The horns are installed directly to the bottom of the bed, above the spare tire and toward the cab. The pic I attached is without the spare tire installed.

The air compressor and tank are installed under the passenger frame. The horns are installed directly under the bed. Here are a couple of pics that may help.
