Morimoto XB Tail Lights Coming Soon!

Received and installed the smoked version on my truck yesterday. Haven’t had much time to check them in the daylight, but the amount they stick out doesn’t seem to stand out as much on a black truck. Still like them better than the EBay taillights I replaced.

Morimoto XB Tail Lights Coming Soon!

I just received tracking for my smoked tail lights from @4x4TruckLEDs.com as well. Should hopefully get here on Monday. Been so long, I’d almost forgot about them. At least I got the Black Friday discount even if the launch was delayed. Rather they not release with issues, so probably worth the...

GEN 1 ICON Bump Kit - Hear me out...

Installing Deavers just means you need bump stop pads since you lose the stock pads built into the lift blocks. It doesn’t mean you need an aftermarket bump stop kit. If you’re not worried about hard off-roading, save $1k and just buy the pads. RPG etc. and most shops that sell leaf springs...

GEN 1 ICON Bump Kit - Hear me out...

Exhaust positioning and exit location is one of the easiest things for any competent exhaust shop to address. I don’t understand why you would limit or otherwise handicap actual functional upgrades vs. just having some pipe rerouted appropriately. Dumping the exhaust before the axle or changing...

Warning: Trans cooler line fitting fatigue

As a follow-up to this, Fordtechmakuloco’s step-by-step video on how to replace the hard lines and the two jumper lines removed any excuse I had to delay proactively replacing everything. It wasn’t too bad. I did not having any leaking and I didn’t see any signs of swelling/distortion or...

    Transmission jumping out of gear

@BSouders80 the stock stall speed is probably more advantageous for high speed running such as if you ever hit the sand or any situation with a lot of sustained RPM from tire spinning etc. A higher stall would probably increase your risk of overheating the trans for anything other than short...

    Transmission jumping out of gear

@BSouders80 I see the converter model details, but I don’t think it indicates which stall. Apologies if I’m just missing it. That model appears to have three different options per the screenshot from the product page. Your tuner is likely going to want to know exactly what the stall is as it has...

    Transmission jumping out of gear

@BSouders80 Let us know what stall you went with on the converter and how you end up liking it along with the work from MSR. They were on my short list along with Circle D and PBH for when I want to rebuild my trans. Any reputable transmission shop should be doing a full assessment including...

Morimoto XB Tail Lights Coming Soon!

The guy that’s running the Gen 1 tail lights for testing said a minor design revision was needed due to hyper flash on those. Between that and the usual supply chain complications, it sounds plausible to me. Keeping my order since I purchased as part of the Black Friday sales and I’m in no hurry.

My 2014 Roush Raptor Doesn't Feel Like 590hp

Yeah, big difference between crank and wheel HP on a heavy vehicle with a decent dose of drivetrain loss. Most max effort (for stock internals) builds net around 560 or so WHP which is over 700 at the crank. In the end, it’s still a heavy vehicle and the laws of physics apply. It can be quick...

    Daily driver roush raptor anyone???

@Bsbuggs Shelby used Rogue for the traction bars, but I think Rogue went out of business or is otherwise in the process of being acquired. RPG makes a similar design. KHC and SVC also have options with the KHC being a torque arm setup vs. the typical bars. @MTF has run the Rogue Racing tractions...

GEN 1 Power tuners, what ones are the best & worst??

JDM doesn’t offer any “conquest”-style discounts for coming from a competing vendor as far as I know, but you can always email or call them and ask. They are usually pretty quick to respond.

    2013 has reinforced frame?

The frame was reinforced primarily in the area that was known to bend during hard landings. The area right above the bump stops. Pretty much any aftermarket hydraulic bump stop will have a similar affect in reinforcing the area and providing better bump stops, especially the Icon setup since it...

Ford Raptor Steering Rack - Upgrade Possibility

Worth checking with them, but I think you’re going in the wrong direction price wise if you’re shying away from a hydraulic swingset setup made for the application and now looking at adapting a billet electronic steering rack. You’re better off sticking with hydraulic. Less considerations for...

Ford Raptor Steering Rack - Upgrade Possibility

@TheTallRoadrunner You realize that’s a hydraulic ram setup for swingset or similar steering. If you’re an experienced custom fabricator, by all means custom is the way to go and you have infinite options. Otherwise designing CNC parts with the correct geometry and custom fab is what gets you to...

GEN 1 Power tuners, what ones are the best & worst??

@FishFreak Don’t bother with an aftermarket throttle body. You’d just be setting yourself up for check engine lights and idle issues due to the cheap drive by wire components. Count me as a fan of JDM as well. I’m running their Whipple 700 package and it drives great.

Ford Raptor Steering Rack - Upgrade Possibility

No additional options for the Gen 1 available other than what’s been discussed already. New or reman rack is your best bet unless you want to go swingset and drop $10k+.

    2010 and 2011 6R80 build date discrepancies

@lorenzo_spag I’d go with whatever was suggested by your dealer based on VIN. At least if they get it wrong, then it’s on them. The primary differences from pre 2011 are internal. As long as the cooler line fittings are in the same place, you should be fine. You might DM @FordTechOne with your...

    2010 and 2011 6R80 build date discrepancies

I think you’ve got that backwards. The older trucks had a mechatronic TCM component mounted to the lead frame connector. That functionality was merged into the PCM from 2011 onwards.

    Radium dual catch can?

I have a Gen 1, but supposedly the UPR ECSS doesn’t trigger CEL’s. I run a pieced together version of it on my 6.2L with Whipple. Nice thing is I don’t have to empty it. The oil just gets returned to the valve cover/crank case when engine vacuum returns to normal. Edit: Maybe still a gamble...

GEN 1 I think my Roush 6.2 with 70K miles just broke a valve spring! Help!

Yeah, people talk about power and efficiency differences between the Whipple vs. Roush TVS, but the most important real world difference is whether you want to cuss more about alternator changes or plug/coil changes. :)

Slow start after filling the gas tank.

Probably a sticking canister purge valve solenoid. Check out this video and test to see if the valve is stuck open and creating a constant vacuum leak. Part number is CX2191 or 9U5Z9C915BE.

GEN 1 I think my Roush 6.2 with 70K miles just broke a valve spring! Help!

@MTF Good catch. Below are the compatible ruthenium vs. iridium plugs respectively based on Whipple and JDM’s recommendations. 0.030 gap required for Whipple application NGK LTR7BHX (95605) or NGK LTR7IX (9510)
