My 18 has a panel on front side of the tailgate (bunch of Torq bolts) to access the internal tailgate components. Spray in bedliner will make getting bolts out a PIA due to bedliner in the torq bolt heads.
Had this happen on my 2018 (not power up/down) after washing out the bed and leaving the tailgate down for hours. I guess water accumulated in the tailgate and corroded the latch release actuator. I removed inner access panel of the tailgate, removed actuator, cleaned and lubricated...
ebay is where I got mine. did the same thing. Swap your electronics module on the new(used) one, as your truck won't recognize to module in the new unit.
Wondering if he's getting a replacement as well?
Also would like to know if the display can be dimmed very low for night driving. I like my interior lights at the lowest setting possible when driving at night.
This is how I solved this issue:
Short version: I increased the brightness of the dash when the headlights are on.
Long version: I like to have my dash lights at the dimmest possible setting when driving at night and headlights are on. With my tinted windshield my headlights would come on...
Ordered 20Jan21, Order still in place, they refunded the dongle for me as well. Email from them (this morning) said that they would be releasing the units in November (due to chip shortage).
Well Phoenix just cancelled and re-funded my order, I did not ask them to do this.
Edit: they just refunded the dongle, Android 10 unit still on order, supposed to be November release.
Installed Thursday on 2018 802A, took my time (4hours), used fuse location 14 for the DRL harness. Lights were aimed really low out of the box, had to raise the beams up about 5 inches. Drove to work in the daylight and brought an 8mm wrench with me to fine tune on the drive home in the dark...
