I do that on occasion as well. The odd pattern I have found is that once a call works, the issue disappears. So if I make a call while entering the car and it switches to Bluetooth as the connection to AA is made, the subsequent calls all work. The issue is trying to start a call after AA is...
Pixel 7 Pro here as well. Received the September Android update, hoping it fixes it, highly doubt it will.
Fairly sure its an AA bug, since the native Bluetooth with Sync works and I never experience this problem when not connecting to AA.
I am sorry you are going through this.
IMO, the dealer response sounds like BS. I dont think 'some' '21's can get the full screen while others cant.
Have you went in with the list and sequence of updates some of these trucks require in order to get to the Sync updates, that have been posted...
Looked for other posts, couldn't find any. Anyone have issues with the rubber vent part between glass and vent shade. Tried to take best pic I could. Mine just fell off tracks causing it to almost tear when opening shade.
Maybe the heat? I never open my shade nor the roof.
Anyone know if...
Exactly my issue as you described. Noticed if I make call with native Ford Bluetooth connectivity BEFORE AA connects, all good.
So, I assume it's an AA bug.
So annoying
OP: I did 20% on front windows and 40% ceramic on windshield.
I would recommend being careful with the windshield. Even at 40% my old eyes sometimes cant see well on dark roads. Thinking of going to clear ceramic. Only did windshield to block the UV beating on the interior
Feels like my nightmare I lived a couple months back. Good luck. I went to dealer with TSB but it doesn't really describe the possibility of # of steps and the sequence in which they may need to be applied. If you haven't yet, you can find my original post of the many steps/updates my dealer...
I have been able to determine (I think) that it's an AA issue. It doesn't seem to occur with the native Sync calling software. Only when AA turns on and manages the calls. Still trying to troubleshoot. So many variables. Annoying when it happens for sure.
Thanks @FordTechOne - that will be my next step.
What had me leaning Sync as root cause is a) issue appears to have started after recent Sync updates were applied and b) all inbound calls work fine. But i know software issues and troubleshooting especially with 2 devices involved takes time...
Hey all,
Searched for this issue and found other issues people are experiencing with Sync and AA, but not mine specifically (apologies if my searching wasnt exhaustive).
So, I am fully up-to-date with Sync on my '21 Gen3. Full screen AA and all of that.
I have recently noticed a repeated...
Agree with this. If you haven't, print out the steps I documented and demand they show you they attemped to do them. I also used this name at the OTA team, she was helpful and told me to have the dealer call her if they say they can't get your system to update.

FYI - Just to close the loop on my situation. I can confirm that all of those updates they performed also resolved the issue of my truck never being able to receive OTA updates.
I received my first ever update overnight today. (FPU 4.2.2).
I guess this confirms its all software related...
Hello.
Yes - I now have full screen Android Auto (eff Apple ) ;), and now and am on the latest Sync version available.
Bring that sequence of updates they had to perform for me and tell them they arent using the resources available to them (Like the Ford TAC team in dearborne they can call...
Welp, I guess its my lucky day. My truck wound up in the hands of one of the most experienced Ford techs this dealership has. Spent a few mins with him when I picked it up. Here is what he had to do:
- FOund update available for gateway module (GWM), applied
- After GWM updated, an APIM...
Truck at dealer now per OTA team suggestion, as well as Ford's mobile tech who recommended to bring it in to shop. They just called and said same thing mobile tech said: no updates available which we already know is inaccurate. So hard explaining to them that the issue is my truck cannot...
Fail.
Ford just tried an update, said they saw nothing available. Last updates showing as occurred on my build day. Which means truck never received an OTA update in ~20 months since build date.
Then the OTA team gave me a TSB (22-2404) and an email to someone at corporate if dealer says it...
Sorry if I didn't look long enough, been combing threads.
Does anyone know the Sync version # that adds the full screen android auto?
I am on 4.0.21136, revision134 and still don't have it.
Ford is coming today so want to make sure I am armed with data points. Thanks in advance!
I convinced my friend at local deal to send a mobile tech here, see if it can be done. She isnt 100% confident due to signal strength as potential issues but willing to give it a shot. Will keep you posted
