Hey FRF, I'm looking for a warn zeon platinum, preferably a 10s but honestly just looking for something I could get soon. I'm in SOCAL so if you are nearby, I could meet up and pay cash. Seems like all platinums are hard to find, but I need one for the swarfworks winch mount. Thanks in advance!
I saw those comments on some of the Gen 1 forums saying that body shops had to buy different equipment to not mess up the temper on the frame when doing repairs.
I've been looking at getting rock sliders custom made and welded to the frame, but I saw some comments about specific welding requirements for the high strength frames but was unable to find exactly what those were. My fabricator is a very experienced welder, but I wanted to see if there was...
Bakflip MX4 has been great for me on my gen 2. Only complaint is that I've had to have the rails warrantied as off roading in the heat has worn the weather seals a bit (not a big deal but my only complaint, super easy to work with too on that warranty replacement).
Got some traction on the CAD models, will update your guys shortly. Talked to SVC and they were saying it wasn't worth it for them cost wise and was talking too much of their time. But I'd still like to get something made, even with more aggressive pads and whatnot vs an oem replacement kit that...
Been trying to get SVC to send the CAD they said they could before. I haven't been as on top of it as I should have been due to work but some of it is out of my hands. @svc Any chance you guys can reach out to me on here? Left multiple voicemails after talking to you over the summer.
Still working on it, had an issue at work that took a few 80hr weeks... All this attention has gotten Wilwood interested again so they may just do it now, which is both good and bad. They have more resources to get everything perfect but it will likely take longer. Talking with them some more...
We are in the process of getting cad models for the suspension and wheels. Ideally, this would be something that we would have a final kit spec'ed out in August/September (need to get parts made and test, epb is a pain and part availability is still lagging from covid) and then we could take...
Ha I'll try, if only I had better brakes! My wife's old Xterra had the EBC greens and they were just as bad. Seems to be a function of that pad material with OEM/non-cryo treated rotors. My brembo's don't throw anywhere near the amount of dust, easily 90% less.
I currently run the ebc extra duty pads, and they are better but still lacking imo. Most aftermarket kits use standard backing plate sizes so you have a wide selection of pad materials.
I agree, however, the spacing is the issue. Likely will have to be a 2 piece to make them feasible without custom tooling and casting but looking into options for using other versions of cast rotors in parallel. It would be oem rotors and wheel spacers or 2 piece with no spacers.
Would do the brake lines, not sure custom colors are worth the up front cost. So far you are the only one that has asked for that. We can talk to them and see what the deal is, but that's definitely getting into the case by case basis.
The Alcon setup is actually considerably more when you factor in the need for the heim joints. The more affordable we can make it, the better but a lot of that comes down to how many people are actually willing to throw down some cash for this. The epb shouldn't be an issue but we are still...
Yeah, that's basically what we are doing. I work in aerospace so knocking out the bracket and running some fea is pretty easy but gotta check fitment and get the right components kitted up.
Hey FRF Fam, my buddy runs Jordan Innovations and we are talking about doing a custom Wilwood kit for the Gen 2's (starting with the front, would be up to do the rears with the EPB if enough interest was shown). The goal is to get a 6 piston caliper with high temp dust seals under the OEM...
Thanks man! I should have been more specific, my bad. Any specific off road trails around there you recommend?I know there are a ton of dirt roads, probably will try to do toquerville falls but wanted to see what else if highly recommended since we only have a short time out there. Definitely...
