If sound is your #1 criteria get a Gen1 if not get a Gen2.
I've run both on my Raptor. The Duratracs are louder but they are better than KO2's in snow, mud and wet pavement.
It's not surprising that a truck with around $8K in mods is faster than a truck with a $750 tuner.
.....and here we are.
If it wasn't for this forum I wouldn't know about any Gen2 issues. I live in a small town with a population of 3000. Including mine there are 4...
They didn't start using metal oil pans until 2/26/18. So either the P.O. had the oil pan swapped or maybe the engine was replaced?
You'll be busted soon. There's a few Gen1 guys that spend more time trolling the Gen2 section than they spend in the Gen1 section.
In January of 2017 I financed my 2017 through my local credit union for 2.25%. Their current interest rate is 3.59%.
Doesn't matter at that point. A stock 6.2 will be about 6 lengths behind.
That stock vs stock race wasn't even close. It would take more than 500 lbs to change the outcome of that ass whooping.
Well duh.... I would hope it would with an $8K-$10K performance mod vs. a $750 performance mod..
No shit numb nuts. I already said the 6.2 can be better if you dump $8k-$10K into it adding forced induction.
That measly 39 horsepower really shows up in a drag race.
It is in stock form unless sound is your #1 criteria for choosing an engine. Of course if you dump $8K-$10K into the 6.2 to add forced induction...
The Gen1 is currently the 2nd best.
Almost everything good in life causes cancer.
I can't help it. I crave that new truck smell every few years. :)
Me too....Then I can say Gen2 is better because they don't make them anymore and it's more reliable.
You can get a 3.5 H.O. for $5600 from tasca.
My 2017 with 42K miles hasn't had any issues. I would have more miles on it but I ordered a 2020 and the dealer already locked in my trade in...
A 6.2 long block isn't much cheaper than a H.O. 3.5 long block.
I can't get past the looks of those things. A Wrangler with a bed is ugly as hell.
If that's what you want to do than go for it. My Gen2 hasn't had any issues yet at 42K miles so I wouldn't do it.
Life is to short to worry...
= Raptor Tax
I've only had 2 of those issues currently @ 42K miles.
1. The b-pillars scratch easy. I was planning on getting them wrapped but never did. They...
